I tried to decide on values that would best serve the story (number of books between evolutions, limits on ultimates that make him strong but don't trivialize every fight or suck the tension out of the story, etc.) I want the progress to be steady, satisfying, with some massive boosts at key points, but it can be tricky to balance it all.
