MtH is one of my favorite bands of all time, and this song is actually what got me into Atarashii Gakko, which has been dope. Y'all probably most know MtH from the 3rd ending of Chainsaw Man (the crazy one). but they're one of the most influential Japanese metal bands of the past 20 years. Shimi is also an older song of theirs, from 2007. The parts AG sung here were originally sung by the drummer Nao, who sings at the end. As far as their influences from other bands, people say System of a Down a lot, and while I hear the similarities, I don't think anyone from MtH has ever mentioned them as an inspiration. I also think you guys nailed the message of the song, the lyrics are pretty rough to parse, but the vibe I get from it is a condemnation of those who would abuse the past for profit. Whether that's through overuse of resources, or scamming people with imagery of traditional spiritualism. The people who do this will have their souls "stained" (shimi), and never make it to the afterlife. As far as other songs to listen to, I'll always recommend Yoshu Fukushu. But if you want the crazy switch ups, ALIEN is up there. And then, while it'll be harder to track down cause I don't think there's an official video for it, my personal favorite MtH song is "Unbelievable!: Swomints Hockeleiro Mifeho". Cause the main piece of their identity that's missing from this song is how unbelievably funky the bassist can get. They've even got a song about the evils of American Imperialism: "Koi No America". I could talk about MtH all day, so I'm glad you checked this song out!

As far as genre mixing is concerned, Maximum The Hormone are for real leading the way for that. They've inspired a lot of Japanese artists in that area. For lyrics, sometimes it's deep and sometimes means nothing lol. Ryo (Guitarist and singer with the dreads) writes some crazy shit that people say is his own language. Maximum The Hormone songs to listen to I'd say are "Talk about future noodles catacotti" which is about Ryo losing a ton of weight for his health but some fans getting angry at him for it. "Hungry Pride" is another cool one with interesting vid. "VIDEO A JUSTIÇA DE KIRA DEATH NOTE (clip)." - if u search this into youtube you get the video for "Zetsubou Billy" which was a song for Death Note. "Koi No America" is great too with a sick vid. "Alien" has a great vid and ends with a part dedicated to them shitting on a music pirating company in Japan (like Limewire). Way more but these are great to start on
