This current draft runs at about 12.5k words, which is a little over our desired limit so of course I would consider judicious cuts.

This was a really interesting read. Love the direction it took, really cute in a lot of parts. As one who's not quite as learned on your species and their universes, this is a great one-off on its own. I'm not so good at visualizing a lot of the environment descriptions, but the characters and dialogue started making me envy Rees' position a bit lol.

If the start is the genuine start and I'm not just missing previous bits, a little vagueness is indeed causing a little trouble, but if this is more bein familiar with world lore, then it's probably relatively fine (it's just lack of information). I feel like there's more I'd want to know and learn, but consider it's current length you still did a pretty good job at what you did deliver within the content provided!
