She can be the kindest mare, but don't think she's stupid; her hooves are so heavy that the ground shakes under the weight of her crown.

Yeah! Horses are great. I prefer soft paws for the playing and teasing stuff, but hooves can also work for these kinds of scenes. Also, their heavy texture can be perceived as heavy and imposing. :0

Not too many macros of that variety around - and horses just have a certain power to them that lends itself oh so nicely for size shenanigans. Plus, hooves are just a massive, unyielding wall of keratin - an interesting deviation from soft and flexible paw pads.
