Writing Prompts May 2024
Added 2024-05-05 19:44:04 +0000 UTCObviously my writing brain needs a kickstart so it's time for you to give me a writing prompt and see if something comes out of it. I've apparently been on a horror kick but also a mystery kick, but TBH I don't really know what I feel like doing right now. Either way, I'm hoping for something that I can cover in ~5k words. The settings I'm leaning toward right now are DOGMEN, HAYVEN CELESTIA, ANI-DROIDS, IN THE NEW AGE.
0. Post your writing prompt below.
1. Must be set in one of my already-established universes, or at least be connected to something I've made with my own original characters (do not ask for anything with anyone else's OCs unless they're already part of my universes' established lore).
2. It doesn't have to specifically feature characters I've already made, these can be new characters that fit the setting or characters I've drawn or mentioned but haven't developed. I'm not crazy about crossovers but if you can make it interesting go for it.
3. Please do not ask for anything involving West or Kar (Karishad is fine in Housepets prompts)
4. Prompts can be potentially in-canon OR out-of-canon, doesn't matter!
5. Ideally, I would like the writing prompt to describe a scenario or starting point for a story. Don't just mash up two characters for me, that's not a prompt. I need the prompt to at least suggest a problem, not just which characters you want to see bumping uglies.
6. I'd like something you'd actually like to see, not a generic writing prompt you pulled off the internet or from a generator.
7. Please do not just ask for something that is a "slice of life"; most of what people consider slice-of-life is actually a microplot. Some plot still happens, inconsequential as it may be! So give me that plot.

She's overjoyed about welcoming a non-native newcomer exiled from the Empire, except he has never seen other aliens IRL outside slaves with suits or masks before! Cultural misunderstanding (and hilarity) ensues as she helps him to fit in this radically different society with no slave or contract culture.

Adrian is pointing out the combative moves and Hildegard is commenting on the "gayness" of the competitors. Hilde wonders why there are no females fighting. Adrian mentions the league has just always been all male. Just then, an announcement of local pit-fighter expedition locations ends the broadcast. One of the location is the gym THEY teach at. Is there a possibility for a Pit-Fighters Lesbian League?

Traveling under the guise of a business trip on behalf of Koenig Industries, they soon find themselves embroiled in a deeper conspiracy that threatens all sentient anidroids and possibly the very structure of the Collective itself. Facing against a new class of faster and deadlier anidroids, and a mysterious entity that seeks to spread it's influence, the pair begin to wonder if they've discovered something that might already be too late to stop.

I think you mentioned in the setting that ten percent of the male population underwent lycanthrophy, is that right? How about a narration about a tasmanian devil morph running through a lawless part of a metropolis hiding from certain someone while he reminisced about how he got there? Perhaps have him contemplate whether the animal form he received has any relevance or not.

You could try a Hayven Celestia story showing how certain species that haven't been mentioned a lot in your stories like the Arrunians, Coosa, Hekiru, or Umbran came into contact with the other races or vice versa.

2024-05-05 22:06:30 +0000 UTCI would love to see a story set in the Ani-Droids world that revolves around the ani-droids themselves, more specifically, a converted Ani-Droid cat that lives in a city-sized junkyard, and it follows them as they try to survive amongst all the wreckage and other disposed ani-droids, some being converted and some still following base protocol, it could have plot points like ani-droids upset at being disposed of, thinking about their previous owners, or lamenting about how good they had it before, and it would also show how desperate some ani-droids are to survive in such a terrible place, even to where they would to use other ani-droids for parts, wether or not they were still functioning or not. that would be a really interesting story to read!

The trio is forced to contemplate the possibility of lying to Olox, a boss they've always been very loyal to. Deception is difficult for any ringel, but they honestly don't know what will happen if they tell the truth — he might well be angry enough to throw them under the proverbial bus, and he certainly has other agents who could take them down. But if they lie to his face, and then evidence countering their accounts surfaces, he might be even angrier.

Through the eyes of an assistant ani-droid, I wanna know what "Peace" was like before the start of our story. What does Peace do in a world that's too apathetic to have any conflict? What about a situation where something wakes her out of a feeling of ennui?

2024-05-05 21:32:19 +0000 UTCCould go for some sort of murder mystery in the ANI-DROIDS setting; That would include both horror and mystery elements while also expanding more on the setting; Either focusing on new characters, completely separate from the cast of the novel, or showing off more of Dimes after the events of the novel. Could also include/be about a virus/hacking or other element that alters Ani-droid perception, to include what would otherwise be outright supernatural horror elements (a-la the resident evil 4 prototype concept of Leon being infected with something that makes him hallucinate outright supernatural stuff.)

2024-05-05 20:50:21 +0000 UTCHad an idea for a Haven Celestia prompt. An Eklan (the deer race I thought up for HC) named Delfan wants to be independent from his family wealth. So he is told by his father that he has to prove he's ready to stand on his own two hooves, by starting and running a successful business off world, if he can't make a decent profit within 2 years he has to return home and join the family business at the lowest level.

2024-05-05 20:38:26 +0000 UTCA bit of a romantic scene between Stix and Gert would be nice, something that happened out of view of the main story during the events of Captain's Oath, or in the interim between Captain's Oath and TTL. Highlights could include Gert showing Stix around the ship, hanging out and bonding with him as Stix is an eager sponge for anything and everything geroo and telling Gert about himself, maybe having a close call or two maintaining Stix's cover, Stix starting to drop hints (in the particular ringel fashion independent of just sex) that he's romantically interested in Gert, hints that Gert isn't quite catching yet. Could all lead up to Stix convincing Gert to try bottoming for the first time, maybe as a companion story to that sketch of Gert bottoming for Stix. Or, failing that, a story of a female geroo who has a mysa boyfriend that she carries in her pouch. How that relationship works, both "physically" and emotionally would be fun to explore, taking into account the needs of a horny mysa male. Could also be fun to explore how a mysa and geroo would ever actually meet in the first place. Perhaps she could be part of a geroo diaspora that settled on Liotec or another Lio-allied planet? Maybe the geroo in question could be that "mystery" geroo lady we've seen recently? Or not, if you already have plans for her. A third idea could be a followup to the end of Skinchange, with Ghoja and Rakham getting used to their new identities, faces, and fur as they prepare for Izzuk's return, and perhaps having upgraded their relationship. Maybe they're using their various skills (like Rakham's hacking and engineering) to get an early start on raising the money to pay Izzuk back, for better or worse.

I'd be curious to see a mystery story set in the Ani-droids universe where a detective or investigator (with an ani-droid partner, if they aren't one themselves?) is tasked with figuring out how a rogue ani-droid was able to exceed the confines of the behavior code to commit a dubiously-moral action in full public view before going into hiding. As a result, the investigator gets unwittingly pulled into the hidden conflict against the Collective where infohazards run rampant and can shift loyalties with just a few lines of code, and protocol doesn't quite align with granting particular freedoms to servitors.

If you really want something for a more developed setting, how about a mysa adopting a krakun as their child. (Yes, I know this sounds silly and most likely impractical)
