I most definitely started strong with art in the first half of May. Many excellent, high quality commissions were made that I am quite happy with!
But to describe May as a disaster would be an understatement. May was supposed to be the month of me acquiring a piece of commercial real estate to secure the future of my mom’s bookstore while also giving me the opportunity to bring in more passive income. Because hey, more money would mean I could commission more of these wonderful characters in my world!
To make the purchase more likely to happen, I had to stop commissioning cold for over three months. Also my fun spending on personal things approached nearly zero, averaging $30 a month.
But the purchase as of this writing is a complete mess. The building is in need of a great deal of repairs and even though I am willing and capable of handling it, the bank issuing the loan does not believe I am financially capable. The bank planned to refuse the loan entirely. Right now, the new purchase date was moved to June 9 but could get delayed again, and that is even if I can convince the bank to keep considering me.
With nearly -two full years of annual income- on the line for this, it has a great deal of mental and emotional stress on me. I’ve badly fallen behind on keeping track of social media activity, especially FurAffinity.
Whether the deal fails or succeeds I have road maps on what to do when that happens, but they are drastically different. My personal life is on pause until this result is found.
Also my commission queues have been basically suspended until I can return to some degree of normal. If it is a commission I feel inspired to work on in my queue, I’ll work on it, but otherwise I’ll just be picking comfort projects and commissions in the meantime. >.>’ I do feel bad about doing that.
I knew the building purchase would be disruptive to my life but I did not plan for this scale of disruption. With the disruption I put myself on “vacation”, but vacation basically just looks like 50 hour work weeks instead of 60-70. I’m still doing art, yes!
Hopefully I’ll be back to normal come July. But in the meantime, I have about 2 dozen sketches finished to post along with a few finished pieces. You all still got content coming from me! Don’t worry.
