Patreon has made some changes regarding sales tax, VAT, GST, whatever it's called in your country. And they've been pretty annoying about it, too (see screenshot, lol). Honestly: I've skimmed the documents. Not really sure what the consequences are gonna be since they vary a lot between countries (or US states). Anyway, what _they_ need to do a good job is to know what kind of reward is attached to each tier. So here's what I told them:
The Tillerinobot sugar is worth 90 cents and the Discord channel membership is worth 10 cents. The reason for that is that I think the former holds basically all the value, but the latter needs to be a full percentage of 10$ since it is also a part of the "Mutual" tier. That leaves the value of the mutual to 9$ because the value of the things in the first tier can't change when they're in a different tier IMO. I've set the categories of these three to what seemed most natural, although the effect of the categories is not transparent. They determine the tax rate, but I have no idea which concrete rates are behind the individual categories.
TL;DR: Some of you will be charged some taxes on top of your pledge starting next month. For some of you, nothing will change. It also sounds like some of you might be charged _less_ taxes? Idk...
If you see anything unexpected, feel free to contact me about it. I did my best with the rewards, but maybe something is off.
