Afternoon

For the afternoon, I wanted to share a story about my relationship with a pet. At home, we have a dog named Chopper. We adopted him when I was in my fifth year of university.

Back when I used to work in an office, I wasn’t home during the day, so I didn’t really get to experience this. But ever since I quit my job and started working from home, afternoons have become the time when he comes up and knocks on my door like he’s calling me to take him out for a walk.

There was a period when I was really struggling mentally, and that simple gesture became something that helped pull me out of that dark place. Taking him out for walks gave me a way to step outside of my own shadow, even just for a little while.

He probably does it out of instinct, without even realizing it. But I’m deeply grateful to him for knocking on my door almost every day even if these days, he knocks a little more often than usual.
