There are few reasons why is it called Bleach, but you got the main one - it has to do with cleansing of souls. (not just the literal one that was shown in these 2 episodes) Another thing is title evolution -the author first called it Black for the reference of their dark cloaks. Also likely because of the anime's focus on death theme. But it was too generic of the title so he changed it. Although he changed it to White to reference the cleansed souls, but this title had the same problem as the previous one. Then he got recommended Bleach as the title and he went with it as it was quite fitting.
