Naruto Shippuden 330-331 EARLY UNCUT ACCESS

I dislike Sasuke as a person, but I understand him. Understanding his hardships and liking him are different things, in my opinion. The pain he felt does not justify the pain and suffering he inflicted on people who weren’t involved in his own pain. This is why I dislike Sasuke.

I like sasuke because hes very relatable. The most human of the cast. Hes a traumatized little boy wanting revenge. People forget what he went through or atleast they dont think about what he went through enough. He loved his brother so much and then that brother killed their parents and the rest of his clan. Everyone in that part of konoha died. Sasuke was alone, scared and traumatized. Thats why he doesnt talk alot, stares into the distance in class in part 1, thats why hes so focussed. Best character in the show. Definetly better than naruto imo.

Ari, you wondering why people like Sasuke... I would say to you: You don't have to endorse a character's actions to like them and I think this is something where a level of immersion in the media is required and the ability to do that typically comes with life experience + enough experience with media consumption and writing in general (the reason I say life experience will be explained later). With Sasuke's level of trauma and how he's defined his life around that trauma, all of his actions are understandable if disappointing. You can see why he acts how he does even if it's not logical, people like him often do not make decisions based on logic. His whole life has been about revenge; it's not so easy for him to change that especially when he's in this mental state. Revenge is basically the only way he knows to keep himself going. It doesn't help that he and his trauma are continually manipulated by people either, whether that's Orochimaru or Tobi or even Itachi. To make the character's writing consistent and to also remain a thematic parallel (otherwise known as a foil) to Naruto for the story, it makes no sense for Sasuke to reverse course and go join the Leaf village up until this point in time. It would also take away Naruto's central goal that Shippuden itself is founded and established on. The story would lose more than it'd gain if suddenly Sasuke stopped wanting revenge or having any darker motives that run counter to Naruto. Naruto is able to empathize with Sasuke because he has suffered a similar level of trauma to him, and with support from others he was able to grow through it and heal. That is why he knows that Sasuke is not his trauma and doesn't want him to keep allowing himself to be defined by it. Sasuke only knows how to close himself off and views himself as more of a tool to achieve his goals than as an individual. We should all know from the Waterfall of Truth that the Naruto we see on screen wasn't the full story behind how he really felt at times as he still held some contempt and hatred for the Leaf villagers even after the Pain arc, so it's no wonder he is able to connect with Sasuke's hate and hope that Sasuke can overcome that hate. He knows that through connecting with and understanding one another is the way Sasuke could ever do that, and is pure enough to be willing to die with him if that doesn't work out. I don't think Sasuke would be an interesting character without these aspects personally. It's when you discuss and dissect his character in an honest way that you can enjoy it. These are the things that make him compelling and not just some typical anti-hero type that people seem to want. I used to hate Sasuke when I was younger but now that I'm older and have been through more trauma that's still nowhere close to what Sasuke has gone through I understand how trauma can change people and make them do awful things. Through that I was able to connect with Sasuke's character more and now I appreciate him way more than I ever would have imagined I could 11-12+ years ago while still not endorsing or supporting his actions or his mindset. Basically I'm not saying you need to like him but there are plenty of reasons to P.S. Sorry for the novel, I did want to legitimately explain and then I got a bit carried away lolol
