And thank you also, Ari, for watching the opening one last time. It really does hit SO different when you've seen everything. Incidentally, this one and the opening you're currently on in Naruto are my two favorite openings of all time, because of how much they use metaphorical visuals and how much real history and culture is intertwined within the openings (and because the songs used are fkn amazing). I had to dig around internet forums/discussions to learn about it. But knowing the full symbolisms really enhances my goosebumps everytime I see them lmao

Something that you missed though that I really do think is worth mentioning is the whole story of Arnheid. Part of me is kinda sad that the most important female character in the story "only" served as a martyr and inspiration for Thorfinn and Einar in the end (it's a pretty common and generally redundant trope for female character writing). But in this specific case, I think it makes complete sense. I think Yukimura included the story of Arnheid because we'd only seen the Viking world from men's perspective, and even if it's painful for men, the ones who suffered the most by far were women and girls. Having such a kindhearted and sweet character, with such tender scenes with Einar, and then seeing what this world is doing to her really puts a more internal emotional perspective in the viewer. I think she's one of the most important historical aspects of the story, because what she went through, thousands of real women went through during the viking ages.
