Personally I think it was just Pitou acknowledging that Gon was strong enough to harm the King which means its theoretically possible for him to kill the King. For all we know it might be the difference between some average person and Conor McGregor. Its technically possible most people COULD probably rip his throat out if they bit hard enough but that doesn't mean its ever going to play out like that. But when the person you're guarding has zero threats to their life in the world even a small threat is going to get your full attention. My general headcanon is Gon was somewhere between Netero and the King but not as strong as the King.

Btw this crash out is very much foreshadowed even prior the Chimera Arc. There’s a video on YT called “Signs Gon is unhinged” that does a good job compiling all the crumbs.
But yea. Iconic episode. The way he pinned her down with his severed arm is the most death metal shit I’ve seen. Thinking back to Gon in ep 1 just makes it comedic

An interesting fact is that throughout the anime you never hear Killua's footsteps because of his assasin training and in this episode is the only time you hear them when he runs to push Gon.

I agree with your take on gon he has morality issues and is very selfish. Killua to me the best character of the series and he gonna prove it this upcoming arc keep watching.

By the way, regarding Gon's power, it's still debated within the fandom. Pitou says that "his fangs can reach the King" in the official translation. That means that, at that moment, Gon was a threat to Meruem. Of course, we're talking about pre-Rose Meruem — post-Rose Meruem (after absorbing his Royal Guards) is a whole different story. Gon wouldn't stand a chance against the current Meruem.
But when it comes to the Meruem before the fight with Netero, there's a lot of debate over whether Gon in that state could defeat him. Some people think he could, others think he couldn't.

also, gon saved killua before killua saved gon. Gon crashed out sure, but he looked at killua was regret when it was over. They love each other like brothers. Killua knows to ignore Gons emotional outbursts.
Just imagine if they’d killed Killua how bad it would have been.

like the others said in the comments, it's something like what kurapika did, but to another level. Yes, I agree with you it's very scary.. also the build up for all of these, if you think about that when morel said to gon "hit me like if I were Pitou" and gon was about to kill him almost but killua stopped him.
Btw he went full "te qifsha ropt" on pitou, and hisoka lost this view!!

Lmao, ya. Imagine when this was coming out, how we all felt about it. Wasn’t a single person imagining him having a legendary crash out and trading his life’s potential for the power to achieve his immediate goal. He did what Kurapika did but different. He traded something for power. “I don’t care if this is the end” was the moment he made the pact

Just to put it into perspective I personally believe the creators are trying to show gon is just a kid at the end of the day. His mentor got killed and that turned him into a wild animal. He didn’t give a shit about his life at that point and he went all out. He literally just crashed out I find it pretty realistic honestly.

A few things to say about the episode and Gon in general:
What Gon does in this episode is similar to what Kurapika did. In Kurapika’s arc, there’s some explanation about how Nen works. They explain that with enough determination and talent, you can form a Nen "vow" or "contract," where you give something up in exchange for power. The greater the sacrifice and the stricter the conditions, the more power you gain. Gon makes a Nen vow here. He doesn't give up his life exactly—he gives up something even bigger: all of his talent, his potential, his future—in order to reach a level where he’s able to destroy Pitou. But that comes with consequences.
Now, does this mean anyone could make a Nen vow and defeat Pitou by sacrificing themselves? NO, because:
1. Talent is required. Most people, no matter how hard they train, would never reach Pitou's level. Gon has immense talent, and that’s why he’s able to gain so much power.
2. Determination is needed. As Pouf said, Gon had the strongest resolve of anyone there.
Lastly, I liked that you criticized Gon. Because yes, Gon is selfish. You can see it throughout the entire series—it’s just that many people focus on his positivity and overlook his flaws. But he’s shown it many times. He’s a selfish, stubborn kid—and that’s what’s great about it, because he acts like a real child would.
P.S. Episodes 134 and 135 should be watched together—they’re just as important as this one :)

I felt the same way you felt, when I watched these two episodes, a state of shock.... And a WTF is happening moment. I knew that Gon had shown some signs of selfishness through out the series, but I paid it no mind because of his positive and cheerful attitude .
Until I first watched these two episodes. I guess given his age he doesn't understand these new concepts of loss, guilt, regret and revenge which was to much for his purity of having fun finding his dad, which this arc is anything but fun for both Gon and Killua. Gon couldn't handle it
I always felt Killua issues was much more severe given his severly painful childhood and toxic family. But Gon did come from a loving home. I agree with everything you said regarding Killua and Gon's relationship which was put to the test! Gon has been a terrible friend this arc and fail miserably in accounting for Killua's feelings. But take into account the both of their ages being put in some of the worst seen atrocities.
