2024-06-06 22:05:01 +0000 UTCGaara backstory is confusing and you still don't have all the elements yet. You got to keep in mind that the story is told by the uncle who's consumed by hatered. Then what he says is understandable. First he congratulates Gaara for defeating him and then tells him to love only himself as supposedly whished by his mother. The guy doesn't really like Gaara but he hates the village more. This is a win-win situation for him. Either he sucessfully kills the murdrer of his sister or he grooms him to be the undoing of the system that killed her. What he says doesn't need to be the truth and is not aimed at making Gaara feel better. This guy is not really a good person, he's not bad either, like a lot of characters in Naruto he's just a traumatised dude.
