Development status

Joke's on me, as this is turning out to be very complex to do, and there are some things that I don't yet know exactly how to solve.

Currently, when Shapeshift applies its g-force morphs, it looks good but there's no response to collision, making it an "animation only" method of morphing. The goal is to have additional morphs to be driven by deformation of the soft physics mesh, while simultaneously applying the g-force morphs and avoiding overshoot with both types of morphing applied.

At a glance, that doesn't seem too hard given that the existing morphing system from Naturalis v1.3 and earlier is in fact driven by soft physics deformation. But that would seem to be a naive impression. The sketch I've come up with of how it would work involves

• basically an overhaul of how the plugin calibrates the glute/breast joint to make it multi-directional (building on the current multi-directional calibration) and based on g-forces rather than rotations

• anchoring a different set of morphs to each possible direction of force on each spatial axis

• smoothly transitioning from one set of morphs and calibrated base angles to another as the amount of force changes...

And so on. It's hard to explain properly without making this post very long and technical. But long story short, if I succeed with this, it'll be the best of both worlds: g-force morphs driving the change in shape due to forces, with an additional layer of morphing that modifies that g-force morphed shape based on interaction with the soft physics mesh. I'll report back as soon as I've made progress that looks like it's actually going to work. 🤞
