ARCADIA 18

Hello, folks! 'Tis I, Hannah Rose, proud to present the latest issue of ARCADIA for all your scheming, dreaming, and gaming needs!

Here's what's inside ARCADIA 18:

Cover Art by Gustavo Pelissari

Sometimes adventures get real whacky! Honestly, I’m not sure if this guy is hallucinating all the monkeys, but he has a wicked-looking sword so I’m not going to risk offending him or his possibly imaginary simian friends. All hail the monkey king!

Unearthly Weapons by Ben McFarland with art from Nick De Spain

Awesome characters need similarly awesome weapons—and better yet, most of these magic weapons can be any type of weapon or can take any form the wielder desires, with dazzling visual effects every time you parry a blow or score a critical hit. Each weapon also includes history and lore that could inspire a new subplot or a whole campaign arc!

Appendix NPC: Part 1 by Sam Mannell with art from Patrik Hell

Are you tired of using the basic acolyte, cultist, guard, and knight stat blocks over and over again, or spending two hours making just the right stat block for your favorite NPC even though they might not show up in combat? (I know I am.) Sam Mannell comes to our rescue with fourteen new Humanoid stat blocks that you can use or tweak to suit your needs, including the arcane student, the troubadour-warrior, and the (refreshingly effective!) bodyguard.

Puzzles of Permanence by Rachael Cruz with art from Miska Fredman and Matheus Graef

Spice up your next dungeon with a courtyard of petrified adventurers, a massive gyroscopic puzzle ball, or a cursed sphinx! This article contains three drop-in puzzle encounters that challenge your players (with plenty of hints if they get stuck) and grant them uniquely valuable rewards.

FAQs

Q: How long will I be able to download the ARCADIA PDF attached to this post?

A: Indefinitely. Though this wasn’t the case at launch, our policy has changed. All issues of ARCADIA remain attached to their launch posts. You can read more about it here.

Q: I know someone who wants to get a copy of ARCADIA, but they don't want to use Patreon. Is there somewhere else they can get it?

A: Definitely, and we understand! That's why, when we post the current issue of ARCADIA to Patreon, we add it to the MCDM Shop at the same time. :D On the MCDM Shop an issue of ARCADIA is $12.

Q: I want to submit an article for ARCADIA. How do I do that?

A: Thanks for your interest, but we don’t accept open submissions—you can check out this post to learn more about how we source articles for ARCADIA.

Q: What is this, an FAQ for ANTS? I have a question and it's not one of the ones listed here!

A: Oh no! D: If you need help with anything MCDM-related, email our support inbox (hello@mcdmproductions.com) and we'll respond as soon as we can. We're looking forward to reaching the point where we can bring on a dedicated support team member to help everyone lickety-split, but until we get there we try to check for new messages every week or two. We've got many tools at our disposal, so rest assured that when you hear back from us we will do everything we can to make sure you're taken care of! :)

I'm catching up on my Arcadia and the first thing I've gotten into is the NPC's. These are amazing takes on foundational archetypes. I've been learning to use Fantasy Grounds, and I love how easily they can be imported into my game.

Traviss Smelser

Yeah, already using the Npcs, they are so cool! Not sure if this article or the Grim Accord is my favourite

Sam Perkins

Love new NPCS! Glad it's a "Part 1"

birdmilk

I wanted to add that the art in arcadia is always rad.

The Big Eye

This art is wild ...and super dope.

Aiglos

Love it! These three articles are exactly the sort of stuff I love using from Arcadia, and I can't wait to pop them in, (I have a place perfect for Ichandrix's Mercy in one of my campaigns!).

David Penguin

Love the Sword in the Stone animation to cap it off :D

Eric Lyons

Definitely a top 3 issue in terms of things a DM can drag-and-drop into their campaign.

Commodore Blood Werthington

These weapons are great! Exactly the kind of stuff I love finding in Arcadia.

Jacob Montague

I love this more widely applicable approach to the articles. Thats not to say the flavour of more fleshed out pieces in other issues is worse, as I do thoroughly enjoy those, but this "Book of Challenges" style approach of having useful drop-in elements is exactly what I've been looking for. Fantastic issue, and will be using readily! I especially look forward to the Appendix NPCs to follow, with hopes for some better high-level spellcasters. Maybe even using MCDM spells?

Ian Wallace

Fantastic issue -- On my first quick flip through I found several things I want to use from different articles
