Welcome new Patrons!

Holy MOLEY this Patreon is suddenly enormously enormous! Welcome new patrons! We realize you new folks are here for ARCADIA and we are also here for it. :D

I just wanted to say hi to everyone and let you know we are hugely excited by the influx of new patrons. You are our supporters and we want to make sure you feel welcome and valued.

Arcadia is definitely the focus of this patreon now, but this is also the official MCDM Patreon, so in addition to ARCADIA you’re gonna see some other stuff here related to what we do. We tag each post so it's easier to find whatever it is you're interested in, and you can use the little tag carousel at the top of our page to jump to posts that share a tag.

We release videos on YouTube about running D&D, how to get started as a DM (it’s fun and easier than it looks!), how to be a better DM, or just how not to make the mistakes I made. :D So you’ll occasionally see the scripts for those videos here. Not a big deal, just a behind the scenes look at the next video, usually goes up a day or two before the video releases.

I also run a D&D game on Twitch called The Chain of Acheron which is currently in suspended animation while the players and I wait for a vaccine and for it to be safe to gather in person again. Once that starts back up later this year (crosses fingers) you’ll also see my weekly notes.

We provide these just so new DMs can see at least one other way another DM organizes their sessions. By no means the “right” way, but new DM’s sometimes imagine their notes should be very organized and then experience some relief when they see how an experienced DM’s notes are more of a mess. :D

We also produce larger, more ambitious 5E products like Strongholds & Followers and Kingdoms & Warfare. Kingdoms and Warfare is currently my main focus, but updates for that are posted on the Kickstarter site.

Generally, I think if you like ARCADIA you’ll also find value in the other stuff we do :D

In the meantime, stay tuned for more Arcadia! We'd like to get out a post about Arcadia development every week or so, showing off some of the behind-the-scenes work that went into developing the previous issue and maybe some previews of what's coming in the next one when it's ready. Probably use some polls to see what you folks are interested in, that kind of thing.

Peace, Out!

-Matt Colville

I have been meaning to become a Patron ever since Arcadia was announced and now that I have (as of today!) I am so happy with my decision! I am currently running Storm King's Thunder for a group of friends on Roll20, and with that coming to an end was thinking about creating my own follow on campaign for them, as off the shelf adventures for Level 10+ characters are thin on the ground. I know what I want to do, and have an outline in my head of how things go, but was lacking one crucial element: a Big Bad. But no more! Arcadia Issue 1 has provided me with precisely with what I needed: Uqaviel The Shard of Dawn fits the bill so perfectly it's like Sadie Lowry read my mind and created him in response. So, thank you MCDM - one issue in and you've already justified my patronage. Can't wait to see what Issues 2 and 3 can offer!

Mike Plunkett

I have the EXACT same feelings! Everything you said is true for me as well.

Nick

Thank you for adding chapter headers

Gravy Kingpin

I have loved your YouTube content for years now and when Arcadia came out I literally said "why am I not a patron?". Thanks for the amazing content and hard work Matt! I know my game wouldn't be the same without it!

The Hobbyist

I've already used the intelligent lab idea. Great tables I stole for flavor, and renamed the lab to DAVE of course (dungeon arrangement variability engine). The players met Dave's body at the very end of the session, so we'll see how it shakes out next time!

Happy to support MCDM and all your content

I'm in my 20s, wasn't there for most of the DnD stuff this was based on, but I just KNEW I had to see all this stuff and find a way to support you. I look forward to more!

Cairo Copper

Not just here for Arcadia, but it was the inspiration for hitting the Patreon button. Keep up all the awesome work you do!

Jesse Stanley

I finally had a chance to break down issue one......Honestly? I love it. Will I use any/much/all of this stuff? I have no idea. But, much like when I read Dungeon and Dragon mags back in the day, the reading is excellent, and even if I don't use what I read, it helps drive the engine to create more. Keep doing what you're doing!

Wayne Davis

I fully support the focus being on usable material (I can't bring myself to say "actionable" 😉), but in comparing to other gaming zines I've seen and of course Dragon/Dungeon, I would be happy to see some high-kwality culture (fiction or poetry or lore) too. I feel the excellent artwork is already pointing you in that direction. I love that you're already dipping into synergies with other MCDM products! How cool is that?! But I also love that that's not all you're going after.

Owen Smith

We were all just lurking in the shadows waiting for dope stuff! Thank you MCDM!

Bob Driver

I don't currently run 5E, though I do play it. One of the things that will really light my fire for a game though is a good game mag. So I am very excited for this. Also a good game mag, no matter for what game, helps every game you run. I still read my old back issues of Dragon and other solid game mages pretty much monthly. When WotC closed the print doors on Dragon I was pretty bummed out and the lack of such a central source for community contributions, back when I was less internet savvy, is part of why I never jumped to 4th ed. That was pretty much cinched when Kobold Quarterly came out.

Robin Goodfellow

I've been a fan of MCDM for a couple of years now, but Arcadia is what pushed me over the edge to support the channel via Patreon. I should have done it sooner, but as Pete mentioned in another comment, it overcame my inertia. I hope Arcadia continues beyond the test run, but I'll be here supporting the other content beyond that even if that's not the case.

Same and agreed!

Jeanne Frenken

Although I'm not currently running or playing DnD right now, Arcadia scratches that itch! Thank you so much for putting it out and I'm certainly looking forward toward the new issues. Will these also be available (for free) via the Patreon? Regards from the Netherlands :)

It doesn't seem likely sense Matt said a lot how much stock he put into trust and experience, But I REALLY want to be proven wrong. many of my favorite writers/designers in RPGs started with Dragon Magazine and other similar publications.

Purple Rose

Well, Arcadia beat my inertia - I’ve been meaning to switch my support from the Twitch sub to Patreon for *months*. Basically no more for me and double benefit for you. Came for the D&D, stayed for the Timerider and Taarna. Go Bravely With Tyr!

Very happy (as apparently many others are) to see Arcadia succeed!!! Quick thought: I've seen several people ask in livestreams about how contributions are solicited and selected. I suspect that belies a strong interest in the community to attempt their own contributions. Given how much work it would be to comb through umpteen thousand submissions, it may be an interesting experiment in the future to have a community competition, wherein the community pools submissions and votes on the ones they like. Then something like the top three would earn consideration for inclusion in a future Arcadia issue, and mcdm could select the best one of the three for publication. Wow. It was quick to THINK that thought, but typing it on my phone took forever. Cheers

Jeff Cochran

Pretty sure we'll see more mounts in future issues, but not issues 2 or 3, those are already in the can. -Matt.

MCDM Productions

I am a huge fan of your running the game videos Matt, as sell as The Chain. I am a huge consumer of DnD youtube videos : no other DM gave me confidence and actionable advice as valuable as yours. I obviously also agreed that a magazine that was a worthy successor to the Dragon and Dungeon of old was missing in our current DnD ecosystem. That being said, when I saw the video announcing it was launched and reviewing the content, I became convinced this was it. I’m here to stay. You are MCDM ; you play DnD.

Gabriel Bergevin-Estable

Arcadia is getting followed just on the off chance I can get more mounts.

DarthPackman

So glad I found out about it; happened to start listening to a bonus episode of Dungeon Master of None talking all about it, and signed on as soon as I got home! SUPER-PSYCHED to have a DND magazine again! I still have a bunch of old Dragons and Dungeons.

Michael Lawrence Senchuk

I've been following on other platforms but Arcadia bumped me past my procrastination to get on the patreon bandwagon. Glad to be here and that Arcadia was such a huge success!

Had to drop out during Covid times here, glad to be able to support again just in time to apparently be receiving Arcadia!! What good timing. Hoping to see the Chain again soon, the setting and faction politics have me hooked.

Ben Hodges

So happy that Arcadia was a success!! I haven't been this satisfied with money I spent on a DnD product since S&F!

Hayden Dent

We'll be doing more mounts, Mount Cards is a good idea, maybe a deck of Mounts in the store? We'll see. -Matt (but no more mounts until at least issue 4, issues 2 and 3 are already being edited)

MCDM Productions

Me too! -Matt

MCDM Productions

Pretty sure we'll be adding more mounts in future issues, but not issue 2 or 3, those are already in layout/editing. -Matt Also, only stuff that's Open, so no monsters that are WotC IP.

MCDM Productions

Newly minted patron. Here to support Arcadia, K&W and any Action Oriented Monster designs that pop up. That video made a number of campaign battles come to life. Any Dicefunk fans out there?

Professor Hisben Fizzlebang, Philosophy of Illusination Dept at Shardpoint

Arcadia is dope, thanks for making it!

Mats Burhammar

I'd love to see other mounts, maybe as mount cards? I like to print out magic items so that PC can have a cards to know what they have.

Ely

I became a patron for Arcadia but I have to admit, The Chain returning is what has me particularly excited.

Glad to be here! Excited to see what else Arcadia has in store and excited for The Chain to return. It would be very cool down the road to get other mounts. I know my party would be interested in a big cat like a Displacer Beast or something of that nature. And perhaps a Drake?

(Not) Randy Moore Director of Escape from Tomorrow

I've been following the channel since Strongholds and Followers, backed the two Kickstarter campaigns, and finally joined in the Patreon because of Arcadia. Big fan of all things MCDM, so I'm glad to be supporting this endeavor! :)

Coming into D&D as a 30 something adult with kids and a job made me search for ways to prepare and run games more efficiently, and your series "Running the Game" helped me immensely! With all the help you've given me and also how awesome Arcadia looks, it was an easy choice to support the team. You guys do great work and I can't wait to see more!

Appreciate you, Matt & Team!

ErdTirdMans

I'm here for the synth. BRING ON TIMERIDER!!! And games too :)

Gravy Kingpin

You say we're here for Arcadia. Well, not entirely! I've been wanting to subscribe for a while now, to pay MCDM back for all the awesome videos and tools you've provided! Arcadia *may* have just been the tipping point :D

I Like the Cut of Your Gibbering

Happy to be here. I found the Running the Game videos a while back and it was always nice to watch while writing up some adventures. When Arcadia was announced, it just sounded so good I had to join the Patreon. Now having read most of the first issue and tagged things for future use I can say this is exactly the kind of content I want more of. Thank you for making this!

Jonathan Sisson

Happy to have you back, Charles!

MCDM Productions

Returning Patron here. I paused support a few months after the Chain paused. Happy to be back in support of a worthy cause like Arcadia. Keep up the good work.

Charles Sowders III

I would just like to say Thank You for Arcadia. The Workshop fits in perfectly with a plot point I've been working toward for a while in my game (tied to a player's backstory), so greatly looking forward to plugging it in. And they'll even be at just the right level for it too. Awesome stuff.

If you like that adventure, I predict you'll like the next two issues. :D

MCDM Productions

When I signed up a week ago there were a little over 4,000.

William Jones

Here for Arcadia ... actually really just here for one specific article in Arcadia. I watched the "Its here!" video and was hooked by The Workshop Watches. Everything else is cool and useful but I would have paid for just that. I'm a new-ish DM, back after a long long hiatus. The how to DM series was my introduction to all this insanity. Thank you for all the content and advice.

Dustin Mayer

Hey Matt, how many patrons signed up since the Arcadia video? It seems to be at least several 1000?

Erik Cameron

Just print out a picture of Matt's giddy face, you know, the one from the GIF.

Dustin Mayer

I've been a passive supporter for years. Thank you so much for the Running the Game videos! Really excited about Arcadia!

William Jones

Happy to support MCDM. You people do dope shit.

Looking forward to it! Question, I was wondering if there was supposed to be any type of back cover for the Arcadia pdf? If not that's fine but i printed off double sided just to have on hand and having a blank page on the back is just less cool :P

Landon Jamieson

New Patrons? Confirmed warlock subclasses in the second edition of Arcadia

patchjeffa

I'm one of the new patrons, I'd been watching for a while but Arcadia looked so awesome I had to join. I'm super impressed with it, and I'm excited to support y'all!

Angel

New Patrons? Maybe you can finally get that 3rd Spell Slot or a new Invocation.
