Hey all,

I figured it has been a while since I last posted. The past few weeks I have been working on building and testing an open source project called Lavalink.

The public FredBoat has been experiencing a ridiculous amount of growth and it is no-longer possible to play stable music from just one machine at peak time, even if that machine is really powerful. The solution to this problem is Lavalink which allows me to play music directly to Discord without being directly logged into Discord. An interesting hack really.

Regional Lavalink servers

Another benefit that comes with using Lavalink is that I will be able to locate servers around the world. For instance, FredBoat Patron is currently located in Los Angeles. With Lavalink I intend to also add servers to Europe and possibly even Asia so that you patrons located in those regions can have the same experience as those in the US.

None of this is really released yet, but I hope to get it running under load very soon.

Once again, thank you all for your huge financial support! Lavalink allows me to expand FredBoat even further, but without your support, I wouldn't even be able to operate at my current scale.
