Also, the Roy Kent-Chelsea relationship is a depiction of the Frank Lampard- Chelsea relationship. I don't know, if you know him, but Frank Lampard is a Chelsea legend who also played from 2015 to 2016 for the New York FC in the MLS.

2025-03-25 20:34:46 +0000 UTCRegarding your thought of how good that team is with the behaviour of Nate, his team West Ham United is supposed to be very good, better than it is in real life. 😉 Nate is modeled after José Mourinho, who was a very successful coach for years. He came from the portuguese club FC Porto to the EPL club FC Chelsea, that was pretty mid at this point. With Mourinho and the owner Roman Abramovich Chelsea became a successful and famous club at international level. When he was holding his first press conference as the new Chelsea coach, he said that he's a special one (special kind of coach), which then became his nickname - the special one. So, what they're doing in Ted Lasso is making Nate seem like Mourinho and West Ham United like FC Chelsea. The problem I have with this is, that Mourinho was arrogant to journalists, but he never treated his players and staff members the way Nate is doing it in the show. Mourinho was loved by his players, at least at Chelsea. It's like you already said, if you lose the locker room, then the team is doomed. And no football player would allow himself to be treated like that.
