Ted Lasso Season 2 Episode 7 REACTION!! (full watch along)

Next episode is probably my favorite of the entire series

It is interesting that Ted's panic attacks and/or issues show up always somewhat relate to Jamie. It's because Ted looks at Jamie and sees the real younger version of himself: A young guy with a messed up relationship with his father, lost in the world, with no way of knowing where to find help.

This was another great episode, I'm glad Keeley and Roy figured out their issues because they are great together. Nate, he said such cruel things to Colin in this episode, it was terrible, not to mention the way he's treating Will. He is definitely letting his newfound power and success get to his head. He's also doing that thing I've seen people do in other shows/movies and in real life, where they are bullied and picked on and the minute they get into a position of power they start to bully others themselves, hurt people hurt people I guess. He also has some serious self esteem issues and no matter how much people say good things about him and how much he reads positive comments, he just takes the negative things to heart so much. The interaction he had with his dad at the beginning of the episode, the shirt with "Wonder Kid" on it which was a positive, the team meant it in a good way, he only took it as a reference to the mistake he made, then after reading so many positive comments, he noticed the one negative comment and it immediately was the one that mattered more than all the others. He clearly has some issues he needs to address, but it's not an excuse to treat people with cruelty.

When you go back and rewatch the series, you’ll notice that Sam and Rebecca are kind of always awkward around each other.

Yes, came to say the same thing, it’s the one I’ve been waiting to see them react to!

Marcus

They need a villain who better than someone like Nate.

As great as this show is and the positive feelings we get from it, this episode reminded us that real life situations make this show truly phenomenal!!!

Ive known a Nate in my life, he's so needy for other people's appreciation and compliments, he craves it due to his confidence being so low and not getting the approval from his father. So when he doesnt get it or when he gets "humiliated" or "hated" on (In his eyes) he needs to feel powerful by doing the same to others. He is not a bad person perse, he just needs to find a way to care about himself more and be less focused on how others perceive him. People cant be there for you 24/7 and compliment you. Love has to come from within. That rant being said, it is hard seeing Nate hurt others. He can be so much better. Loving the reactions, and I love this show for not shying away from these situations and only staying a "light comedy". Its an Optimistic Show but very Grounded and Realistic in the ways how people are, and that is not 2 dimensional.

I love this episode. Nate showing a not pretty side of him. Colin clearly has self esteem problems. You're right, he was a easy target. If Nate had tried to do it to Dani, Richard or Jamie they wouldn't have let it bother him or even talked back. Colin just accepted it. Nate said what he did to Colin because he knew he could hurt Colin and he wanted someone to hurt like him. And with Will, now he's where Nate used to be so he's trying to put him in "his place". Even when I watched this I was like maybe he's still a little sore at Colin for how he was in the beginning. But that wasn't it, it was just because he could, much like he did with Will who never hurt anyone. Like come on, Jamie did so much worse to Nate but he wouldn't dream of going up against him because bullying like he's doing is a coward's thing. He waits until there is no one else around to say the stuff he is saying. Sorry, I haven't been this disappointed in a character in a very long time so I feel very strong about it. Rant over.

Also interestingly: the YouTube channel CinemaTherapy broke down Lasso, and the therapist on the channel talked about why they do 50 minutes out of 60 for a session, and noting that it's because it takes a toll on the therapist as well sometimes, so they need 10 minutes to get their notes together, regroup from the emotional impact of the session, and even just go to the bathroom.

I simply cannot wait for the next episode. One of the best of the entire series. (This episode is fantastic as well, of course.)
