She was the only one that he trusted, and was able to turn to for advice when things went sour. I was hoping it wasn't her... but I knew. RIP Helen (Polly).

Even Churchill lost influence in the end, could not deny the swaying power of nationalists, so there is no secret service at Tommy's back anymore. He now has to work for the Irish, which is why he is so cool with all those American Irish in the room, he already knows who gave the order for the deal. Not to be reduced to a middle man though, he takes every oppertunity to fuck with Michel and undermine his enemies.

We had to wait around 3 years for season 6 so I dont know if she passed before filming or during it seemed like forever between season 5 and 6 what with the pandemic also.

2024-04-27 21:06:56 +0000 UTCHelen and the cast were all ready for shooting S6 then covid struck and they all had to shut down filming. Unfortunately she got too sick in between and they had to rewrite the storyline. She died beginning of April 2021. So if Covid hadn't struck she would have been in this season. I would imagine the funeral scenes were very emotional. None of the crew or actors apart from a few were aware she was even sick. She was such a brave lady and the show feels like its got a big Polly shaped hole. It perhaps is a lot darker than maybe it was meant to be because of her passing.

2024-04-27 21:05:26 +0000 UTCHelen McCory was a fantastic actress! I loved her as Aunt Polly and as Narcissa Malfroy In the Harry Potter films. Cillian Murphy had said, she was the heart of the show and not having her in the last season felt strange to them. It was torture waiting for the last season and not knowing what was going to happen, but at that time everyone wanted to see how they were going to announce what was going to happen to Polly's character.

It makes me wonder if a lot of Polly scenes were rewritten/redirected to her due to the loss of Helen....it could have always been that Ada was going to have more of a presence this season, but I just thought of that while watching this reaction.

In her absence, the storyline had to be altered and certain parts were reshot.
