Hey team,

Happy December. Another month, and merrily do we roll along.

PROGRESS REPORT

Five more chunks of A Guide to Flaming Out have been released: here, here, here, here, and here. Also have a more accurate gauge of its scope: unless I add something, it looks like a total of 15 chunks, 13 of which have been written, and, of that, most have been recorded. That leads me to an estimate of being 63.3% done with the project.

The proposed deadline was December 8th. Editing 9 chunks in 5 days is infeasible, so I am pushing the deadline back to... call it January 2nd? I was tempted to set the deadline for the solstice, as a nearer one feels like a better motivator (I have a reflex to say "don't worry about it til after Christmas!"), but 9 chunks in 18 days is one every other day, and I haven't kept that pace so far, and there is little reason to assume I will suddenly pick up. So! A solstice deadline would probably get pushed back anyway, so we'll just push it to January now. I will keep "see how much you can get done by the 21st" in my heart to stifle the "after Christmas" urge.

Two announcements:

Firstly, I will be presenting a talk on the 11th for a university in Germany about my video-making process. We're recording the audio, so I will sync that to my slides and share it with you once it's done! Should be about 45 minutes long, and what I'm outlining so far looks like it's gonna be a lot more philosophical than the usual behind-the-scenes presentation.

Secondly, I have begun a collaboration with friend and fellow Youtuber Marceline. She is currently editing the rough cut of the next Protagony video, and we are both looking to contribute to each other's upcoming scripts. Working with Willow on the Adventure Game Tier List has been really rewarding, and I'm hoping I can get more shit done if I stop one-man-banding everything, and Mars is a really talented and under-sung creator.

Which is all to say: between A Guide to Flaming Out, Protagony, and the talk I'm recording, there may be... three?... videos in January???

One new square, "host a dinner party," which, yes, was Friendsgiving, but I'm counting it because it was a deliberate attempt to think about how I wanted the day to go and work backwards from that in order to plan effectively. It did for me what I wanted this square of my bingo card to do, so it counts!

I can tell you I2 is definitely not going to happen this year, which means my best bets are the vertical along the O or one of the diagonals. Both would require me to play guitar in front of an audience...

Only one film watched this month, Stopmotion, for which my review was simply "squish." (I did not love it, but it was neat enough I guess.) Unless I plan an intensive movie marathon this month, I don't think we're gonna complete the list. :c

READING LOG

First month in two years when I have not logged a single page. This is not wholly accurate - I have read bits and pieces of a number of things, taken stabs at a few books, read some nonfiction about specific situations I am dealing with. Some of it I simply don't want to log for this, and some I feel I should wait and see if I actually continue with the book in question (one chapter of Circe does not count if I abandon the book). Attentions have simply been going elsewhere this month, and, if putting out 5 chunks of a video means my movie and reading habits have taken a hit, that is a justified expenditure.
