Early Access: Why Don't You Respond to Criticism?

Heya team! Here's the next Alt-Right Playbook. Assuming nobody catches some glaring error, this will go public Friday-ish, but, for now, it's for you and Nebula only!

Early Access: Why Don't You Respond to Criticism?

Comments

(it was not intentional)

Ian Danskin

y... yes... definitely intentional

Ian Danskin

The dropped "L" was intentional? That's on me for not getting it, then. Carry on.

Jason Schneiderman

I suppose an important difference is that the fans of right-wing figures largely don't care about the figure behaving ethically or morally, so those figures are less likely to treat criticism as a threat to their reputation.

Samus Aran

I thought it was obvious.

Kait Hatch

GAH! This so much! Thank you for once again succinctly getting at a thing that has irked me for YEARS but I've not been able to articulate the why for. This is one of those questions I see and hear and can tell it's loaded and a trap and now I can direct folks to a very clear explanation of exactly how it functions as a trap.

Kait Hatch

uhhhh... that was intentional...?

Ian Danskin

so I roughly structured this as "put yourself in the shoes of a hypothetical person" then "put yourself in my shoes" and finally "return to your own shoes" for the ending, but maybe I didn't make the transition smoothly

Ian Danskin

1) relishes the opportunity to turn this into an interminable debate 2) calls you a monster for even implying the criticism could be true 3) stonewalling (there is no criticism/I already responded to it/hey look over there!)

Ian Danskin

I think this is aimed at other fans of leftist or progressive content creators, like us: don't fall for this, don't chime in.

Charlotte KL

Like, for EEL though

Shisa Sensation

The outro song was great, nice choice

AaronRobertoMusic

The simple framework given here is really useful. Excellent work.

Josh Grey

I'm wondering: What happens when someone asks a reactionary right-wing figure "Why don't you respond to criticism?"

Samus Aran

Great content as usual!! Out of curiosity, why isn't the last point "don't *answer* the question unless you have three yesses"? Is there something I'm missing?

Musicombo

A really good video for four eels in a trench coat. :) (Good video for a human too btw)

dustycymbre

Watched twice, hits the nail on the head. I've seen this so often - also directed at other members of the audience in the style of "Don't you know what X has done and never addressed?", in the style of dividing people on the left from their community (as described in a previous video).

Charlotte KL

Love this so much

Sara Ezzat

I don't know if it's glaring, but the title of the presentation at 4:30 says "TO QUICKY SUMMARIZE."

Jason Schneiderman

New ARP, fantastic! Can't wait to watch when I get home! :)

Charlotte KL

Really good and good to see a new entry in the series. One potential error is at 00:20, it seems like the "lot going on here" bit feels like it's delayed by about 4 seconds. Maybe it's intentional but it jumps out at me as out of step with the rhythm by which you tend to sync text gags to your narration.

Homebrew Futures

I thought the transition where the text "Why don't you respond to criticism?" showed up as different types of comments on different UIs was pretty slick.

Rodrigo Deodoro

I'd assume you would make fantastic sushi, but I guess I've never had any of your cooking.

Geneva

That was fun. Love the eels-in-a-trench-coat/Obama birther analogy!

Michael Gallant

A very good guide for upcoming leftist content creators, thank you as always Danskin

Ultra_Man

Awesome! Every addition to the series is a banger
