Changes, And Shuffling Things Around

Hey team,

We've got small changes and we've got big changes coming.

Starting with the small changes, I'm shuffling the order of the next videos. The plan was to release three Alt-Right Playbooks back-to-back, but I want to spend a little extra time on the third one, so I'm going to do some finishing touches on the two I have rough cuts for and release them this coming week. I've written the script for the new Patreon video, and I'll be releasing that shortly after the two videos go live to capitalize on whatever increased traffic I see, and then the third Alt-Right Playbook will come out (hopefully) not long after.

Regarding the bigger changes, how this series and the new Patreon video are received is going to determine the future of Innuendo Studios. The current treadmill that the channel is running on is not sustainable, and I'm not having luck finding steady work that pays my expenses. The things I'm finding either take up too much time or are plenty flexible but don't pay well. Looking at how long til my loans go into repayment, and looking at my bank account, I can't keep devoting this much time to the channel for how much the channel is currently earning me.

Now, don't worry, Innuendo Studios isn't going anywhere. But the Patreon video is going to spell it out plainly: if we can hit (or at least get close) to the next milestone, I can start guaranteeing a regular schedule for videos; if not, I'll flip the Patreon over to per-video, get a full-time job, and only release videos when I have the time. You'll only get charged when I actually release something. I'm guessing that could be as little as 2-3 a year, based on how much work the videos take and how hard it's been to work on them when my schedule is full.

Also, I've had to rejigger the milestones to account for loan payments and my rent going up.

Now, I want to stress what I've stressed before, I am not asking you to increase your pledges. The same number of people promising more money than they're comfortable with is not sustainable, either. Over time people always set their pledges to what works for them, so there's no sense artificially inflating it. What need is not bigger pledges but more patrons.

So this month is going to be a push. I'll make sure you're getting your money's worth one way or another. And I guess... we'll just see what happens.

FWIW, I don't mind paying monthly even if you go a little while without posting. I'd prefer channel updates like you do to let us know what you're working on as you take the time to really make the content worthwhile. I've rewatched your stuff a lot because it tends to be densely packed, engaging and thoughtful, and I'm happy to support that sort of content, even if it means it's a bit of a long-term investment. Just my 2 cents. Also I'd imagine a decent bump as the alt-right series comes out, so maybe wait to make a decision. Looking forward to it.

Totally get it. I just launched my own page last week and published an accompanying blog where I explain about Patreon. I included a link to your stuff and share your videos often, so *fingers crossed* that is able to help get you a few more pledges. I can definitely keep my pledge where it is for the next six months at least.

Makes sense. Thanks for being clear about the financial state of the channel - here's hoping.
