[My Art] Toon Style Study w/Kat

You might not be able to readily tell from my own current art style, but I prefer more cartoonish aesthetics in all things. Since I began learning to draw nearly two years ago now, I've always held onto this dream of being able to draw in a fun cartoon style. Something with the power to inject that extra personality and fun into my work. I've made attempts in the past to do cartoony things but I could never fully grasp the look I wanted, or at least in a way that I felt confident about. So I decided to do a deep dive style study on some of my favorite cartoon illustrators this week. CatFatigue, OddTenn, Josh-S26, Mousticus, and Nokonyu specifically. Though the result above is mostly reminiscent of CatFatigue's style moreso than the others mentioned as I quite like it and wanted to understand it the most. Didn't bother with a background since that isn't really the point of this particular study session. As an aside, adopting a typically SFW style and using it for NSFW content is it's own unique challenge but I did my best and am quite happy with the end result and I hope you will be too! This week's story will be a bit light because I yammered on above, but I think it gets it's point across. --------------------------------------- "So? You better have a good reason for talking to me directly about this. I specifically said NOT to do that." I swallow hard, feeling small under Kat's gaze. Quite the feat considering her height. I pull out my phone. "Yeah yeah I know. It's just I had some questions and the Google Form you put together doesn't have an FAQ or nothing." She rolls her eyes and wordlessly gestures for me to follow her. A short walk away amongst the lockers, she turns back to face me. "What wasn't clear? What's your question?" "It's about the 'All-Day P(ass)' in the dropdown here." I pull out my phone and begin reading what's on the form verbatim. "Scorned by another? trouble with an ex? Just don't like someone? For $50 and a name, I'll make them disappear for 24 hours into a world of their nightmares." She raises an eyebrow, looking indignant and more than a little embarrassed at having her own writing read back to her. "Yeah? What's wrong with it? On god if you critique my writing or grammar or something..." "No, not that. I just want to know what exactly you do to them? I got a... person I want to pick. But I need more specifics if you want my cash; what kind of nightmares are you talking about?" She looks left and right before smiling at me. An unnerving smile. "Curiosity killed the Kat, you know? But tell you what, for the incredibly low information fee of $30 in my hand right now I'll show you exactly where they go. And since I'm feeling SO generous, if you're still interested we'll knock $5 off of that All Day P(ass) fee. Sound good, big guy?" Despite feeling a bit like I'm getting fleeced, I pull a twenty and two fives out of my wallet. She snatches the bills out of the air before I can even formally offer them. "As it turns out I'm with a client right now. Lucky you!" "Really? Just looks like you're standing here talking to me." "That's because I'm good at what I do. Now come. I can't show you where she is while anyone else is watching, and no photos or you're heading to an early grave..." Still just as confused and now $30 poorer, I follow Kat into a janitor's closet nearby. "What I'm about to show you doesn't leave this room, understand?"
