Alternative versions

Hey pervs,
Got a more or less short question for you today.
I'm currently rendering the next animation and ran into the problem of rendering times being way to high again.

This often happens due to me upping the quality, working on decent looking backgrounds and more complicated textures and materials which can result in very high rendering times depending on many factors.

For example the current animation with the initial background I did was at ~1:44 per frame at 320 frames per camera angle and 3 camera angles would result in ~27h 44 min of rendering for just 1 version. Since I usually render out at least 2 (Black and White males) This would mean nearly 2.3 days of just rendering one short animation. Even after spending quite a few hours and hardly optimizing the scene it was still ~1:10min per frame if I wanted to keep a decent rendering quality.

It won't be this extreme for every animation but it could also be worse for longer stuff.

I decided to redo the background for this one which resulted in ~20s per frame bringing down the rendering times to a more reasonable level but this isn't the first time I ran into this problem and I hate to scrap nice looking stuff only because rendering times are getting to high.

This is also one of the reasons often avoid doing alternative outfit stuff and so on.

Its just one of the drawbacks of me using the much more accurate ray tracing rendering engine Cycles for all my stuff. I have considered switching to the other near realtime variant EEVEE which would result in 2-5s per frame for this example but getting good lighting is a lot harder and I strongly prefer the look of Cycles over EEVEE. So this is not really an option for me.

I still have my "old" 3080 and an older pc which I want to build and use as a render slave when I get the time but this needs a bit more work and doesn't solve all problems and it only has 10 GB of VRAM and a lot of my blender scenes need more than that which would result in the card not being able to render it in cycles.

I was wondering who of you is more interested in pure black or pure white versions because of that.
If I would do combined races or pure black/white male versions of an animation I could reduce rendering times and extend animation durations without having to suffer to much or going broke because I need to pay render farms or upgrade hardware yet again.

Also my rig is already pretty expensive and has pretty decent hardware.

If I would do combined races or pure black/white male versions of an animation if there is more than one male involved. I could reduce rendering times and extend animation durations without having to suffer to much or going broke because I need to pay render farms (Shit is more expensive than people might think) or upgrade hardware yet again.

I already decided to do this for commissions since people usually give me a skin color they want but I want to get a better overview what would happen if I do this more and if this would be an option in the first place.

Sorry for the wall of text

I know what you mean.

I have nothing against black versions in general, variety is a good thing, plus in some cases, contrast really looks good. I just prefer it to be an option, not the main version. QoS artists kinda ruined the attitude towards black versions for me.

Prefer black for color contrast like seeing reverse as well

I understand your point. But technically you could argue that only using white males is also racist. I already got people asking for QOS and even racist body writing and I denied doing both. But this isn't about that. I obviously have my own preference and wanted to get a feel about yours to determine if cutting one version would be an option (mostly for the 1 on 1s). An d looking at the poll it seems like its to even to consider dropping one version.

For me, the white versions are good, in this case there is no contrast between a guy and a girl. PS: Plus black versions associate with Queen of Spades, which i'm tired of. That trend look kinda racist. To put a brand on a girl, are you serious?
