#8 Progress Report 2024/8/12

Here is the game progress report for "Sister Virodar" in July. This month, I would like to share the current development progress and some ideas.

Game Update Progress

We are still working on the UI mentioned in the previous post.

Currently, the functionalities of the battle screen, item screen, dialogue screen, and purchase screen have been mostly implemented. This month, we plan to continue working on the remaining screens.

I am continuing to work on the succubus animations, which I hope to add to the game in the next update. I plan to incorporate the succubus attack as a trap in the game. Players might encounter a statue resembling a succubus, and if they approach or interact with it, the statue will release energy, damaging the protagonist. If this causes the health to reach zero or leads to severe injury, an animation will trigger where the succubus herself ambushes from behind.

Game Content Ideas

Since UI development is a time-consuming task, there isn’t much substantial content in this update. To make this update less monotonous, I’d like to share some ideas that I have in mind. These ideas might not necessarily appear in the game, but I think they would be interesting.

Items 

Regarding items, I am considering introducing items that have addictive properties. If a character becomes addicted, they will need to acquire the item regularly, or they might suffer debuffs. This could be a way for merchants or succubi to control the sisters.

A character's abilities can be easily raised to a powerful state, but reaching the highest level would be difficult. There could be a highly valuable rare item that can be exchanged for the top-tier items in the game.

Enemies

 I am considering adding more enemy characters. For example, I’m thinking about allowing the heretic sisters and zombie sisters to work together. The heretic sisters could use magic to strengthen the zombie sisters. Another idea is to introduce a new type of runner zombie sister. These sisters are transformed by heretic sisters, possessing incredible speed and perhaps no hit-stun. If they knock the protagonist down, it might directly trigger an animation. However, their health would be very low.

Additionally, I might design a slime-type enemy next. I haven’t fully settled on their appearance, but I’m leaning toward a realistic slime texture. (Though, a cute pink texture wouldn’t be out of the question.)

I imagine that slimes could copy the traits of the creatures they attack. Initially, they might just appear as a blob of jelly-like substance, but after prolonged contact with another creature, they could replicate that creature’s appearance and attributes. Due to their nature, slimes might also excel at disguising themselves as various objects to ambush other creatures.

I’m picturing a scene where, each time the protagonist is captured, they are taken to the slime’s nest and wake up there. In this scene, there is a pool filled with slimes, and with each capture, a special slime in the pool becomes more and more like the protagonist, eventually turning into an exact copy. However, this transformed slime might not necessarily be hostile and could inherit the sister’s personality, possibly being friendly toward the protagonist. (She might even serve as a healer, helping to treat parasitic infections or addiction states.)

Actions 

I’m also considering adding a new dodge animation for the protagonist to avoid certain attacks. In addition to the dodge animation, I’m thinking of adding a prayer animation that can be used during interactions. I’m also considering allowing the protagonist to use different melee weapons, such as greatswords and spears. Therefore, I’m thinking of replacing the current melee attack animations with multiple, simpler animations.

Scenes

 I envision the slime appearing in environments like sewers, so I plan to spend some time creating new scenes.

Additionally, if functional scenes like the merchant’s shop, succubus’ lair, or slime’s nest appear, I might add a teleportation function in the small church to allow players to interact with them more easily. (Depending on the protagonist’s journey and choices, the recorder sister might have different reactions or comments.)
