Caranthir, whose full name is Caranthir aep Aen Tinne, shares part of his mother's name, Aenyell.

Caranthir is not officially an heir to either House Gillen or House Macha, as he was born out of wedlock to Aenyell and Crevan. However, he is considered a "child of the gods," which gives him a special, higher status.
