Midaëte is the festival of the summer solstice, marking the beginning of the first month of summer in the Aen Elle solar calendar. It is the day when the sun reaches its zenith and light triumphs over darkness—for the last time before the waning begins.

🔥 The Meaning of the Festival

Midaëte is the peak of the year—a moment when life reaches its fullest bloom, only to slowly begin its graceful descent toward fading, as all living things do.

On this day, in the temples of Feainnara, elves sing hymns to life and light, but also honor the inevitability of death—for without decay, there can be no ripening. In these sunlit sanctuaries, magic is especially potent: spells fed by solar fire grow stronger, and protective enchantments shield the earth and all living beings. As on other sacred dates, the veils between worlds grow thin during Midaëte, and nature itself pulses with raw, vibrant magic.

🌿 Traditions and Symbols

🔸 Flower Crowns of Fern, Cornflower, and Adder’s Tongue
Woven by daylight and worn upon the head, these crowns symbolize the cycle of life.
Young elves exchange wreaths with those they long to bond with, believing that doing so may entwine their destinies.

🔸 Sacred Bathing
Bathing in rivers, springs, or forest pools is believed to bring healing and renewal on this day, as waters are said to be blessed with special powers.

🔸 Bonfires
Jumping over flames is a ritual of cleansing and warding off misfortune. The fire burns away shadows and welcomes strength.

🔸 Songs and Circle Dances
From noon until dawn, elves sing in honor of Midaëte and the sun goddess Feainnara.
Youth gather around bonfires and sacred trees, calling upon the goddess to bless them with love, vitality, and fertility.

Herbs gathered during Midaëte are believed to carry exceptional potency. Healers and herbalists collect them for potions and charms throughout the year.

Sadness is also discouraged, as it may frighten away luck and blessings.

Unlike Birke, the spring festival of children and the hearth, Midaëte celebrates the body, heat, and desire. It is a night for lovers, when more is permitted than at any other time of year.
Wine flows freely, laughter echoes between the trees, and gowns fall like leaves into the firelight.
There are no rules—only longing. And the goddess watches to ensure the heart chooses true.

Couples who come together during Midaëte are considered blessed.
Children conceived on this night are often born with heightened magical sensitivity.
Many grow to become the priests of Feainnara or powerful mages. Only those born during the spring festival Belleteyn rival their magical gifts.

🔸 Венки из папоротника, васильков и ужовника
Их плетут днём и надевают на голову — как символ круга жизни.

В этот день молодые эльфы обмениваются венками с теми, чьей парой они желают стать.

Купание в водоемах, которые, по поверьям, в этот день обладают особой целебной силой.

🔸 Костры
Прыжки через огонь символизируют очищение от темной энергии и дет защиту от неудач.

🔸 Песни и хороводы
С полудня до рассвета поются песни в честь праздника Мидаете и богини Солнца Фианнары. Молодёжь водит хороводы у костров и деревьев, призывая богиню благословить их на любовь, силу и плодородие.

Нельзя злиться и вредить растениям. Они в этот день отличаются особой чувствительностью. Не рекомендуется грустить. Это спугнет удачу.

🌺 Праздник тела и страсти

В отличие от весеннего Бирке, что отмечает возрождение детей и дома, Мидаэте — праздник плоти, жара и страсти . Это ночь для влюблённых. В эту ночь допустимо больше, чем в любое иное время. Вино течёт рекой, смех летит между деревьев, а платья падают, как листья. Нет запретов — лишь желания, и богиня поможет не ошибиться с парой.

Пары, созданные в эту ночь, считаются благословлёнными.
Дети, зачатые в праздник Мидаэте, часто рождаются с высокой чувствительностью к магии. Из них вырастают жрецы Feainnara и сильнейшие маги. По силе и глубине магического дара их можно сравнить лишь с детьми, рождёнными от союза в праздник Беллитейн.
