Thoughts and Opinions

Hi All,

So as I finish working on the Neurodiversity mod (I know, long time coming) I realize I have a lot of mods that tangentially cover mental health but they're not cohesive.

For example, in the Neurodiversity mod one of the disorders will be ASD. Play therapy can be effective for ASD but it adds yet another layer of therapy which now brings my mods that have their own therapy sessions up to like six. Additionally, as I ramp up new features in other mods, like a Mental Health module in HCR since I feel like Anxiety and SAD are just hanging out there alone and I'd love to add more, I want to be more intentional about how I move forward.

So my question is would it be simpler or easier or desired for each individual mod to have its own individual therapy or would you prefer I do something more drastic like I take the mental health aspects from my other mods, put them in a larger (but still modular) more cohesive mental health mod to be expanded upon, possibly with a career or active gigs?

This would most likely mean that some features from HCR, Sim Image, Neurodiversity, and Family Therapy would be removed and placed into this Mental Health mod which then would be required for a few of those other mods (Neurodiversity and Sim Image, for example). Family Therapy would most likely be retired.

Thoughts, opinions?

I assess and work with young children with ASD, please don''t apologize for being strong enough and confident enough to share! I understand that took a lot and I applaud you for it! Keep socializing hun!

I have a suggestion for the Education or pair with the Deliquent mod. What if we add truancy officers? Like so many days they don’t go to the school then they get a visit and taken into foster care.

From someone who has been diagnosed with ASD in his late teens but partially diagnosed when I was a child I can tell you from experience we haven't touched the surface with everyone on the spectrum facts will remain unknown since it acts differently from everyone. ASD affects me socially in social situations in person where I do not pick up on social cues or facial expressions so sometimes a woman could be flirting with me and I would never know and I may interrupt people at times since I do not pick up on the pauses when people speak which is social cues. They diagnosed me with ASD and bipolar with just basic tests , like hands on approach , testing my literary skills and etc. That is all the input I can give on this sorry for the tmi. Love your mods btw and hope you and your family are doing okay.

Probably not. There's an occult school in the mod already.

Off subject of the poll, but I've been wondering for a long while now if you'd ever consider making a version of the school mod geared towards the Realm of Magic?

I voted one way but either one would be amazing! I wouldn’t mind finding out what either looks like and plays like. I do think classifying specific needs in the therapy would good. Can’t wait!!!

Love your mods

Hi! Sorry but no. That’ll never happen (all in one that includes dental eye and healthcare redux). It may not seem it to you but they are all massive and complex systems in each of those mods behind the scenes. And the whole point I made in my giant post above was that I already have a bunch of disparate mental health aspects and should they remain disconnected or the mental health aspects become their own mod.

I would love an all in one mod that includes healthcare, dental, eye care, and therapy. Is there a possibility to add Major Depressive Disorder and Manic Depression to the Healthcare Redux? Thank you for all your hard work!

I think it is better cohesive but do what is more comfortable for you to work on and we adapt. You are doing a good job and for that we thank you very much. excuse my bad english :)

This sounds amazing!! How about having sims have symptoms of illnesses then have them go through the process of getting them diagnosed??
