underrated fantasy movie. LOTR vibes at certain points. Definitely not on the level of LOTR, but not much is

When mine were babies I'd swoop them around and say "I stole a baby!" 😭 Also I'd say "spare some milk for this poor hungry baby" 🤣

I am glad you reacted to this and enjoyed it! I love it so much, it's a film my siblings and I watched a lot as kids and we used to always quote "I stole the baby" all the time, lol. This was our Lord Of The Rings and yeah there are so many similarities, it wouldn't shock me if Lucas wanted to make that film but didn't think he could because at the time no one did so he made his own version but it's not a rip off either, it still is it's own thing. I love Val Kilmer in this, he is so charming and makes for a perfect thief turned hero, he reminds me of a mix between Han Solo and Aragorn. This is the film that I always associate him with. Warwick Davis was perfect casting, he is such a fun and likable character that you completely root for. And a fun fact with him, he was only 17 when he made this, that is crazy to me, he didn't look that young at all and pulled off being a father and acting older so well. I know there are people that find the brownies annoying but I think they are hilarious. Kevin Pollack is a very underrated comedian. And even though you can tell it's a green screen when they are there I still think it looks great, especially for the time. Another thing I need to give this film credit for was the baby, her little facial expressions were perfect, one of my favorites was her reaction when Madmartigan spun her around, lol. And they did a good job of making her a character as well. I love when Willow says "we don't need him" referring to Madmartigan and she cries, like that was her way to tell him that they did. The only thing I wish we got to see more of was Sorsha changing sides, she just kind of switches out of nowhere. There is a deleted scene showing a bit more but I didn't actually care for it so I am glad they took it but I still wish there was just a little more.
Ron Howard was a child star and is now a great director, he's made some really good films like Ransom, Splash and my personal favorite besides this one Parenthood, which I HIGHLY recommend. Actually I recommend all of them but definitely Parenthood the most, it's one of my favorite comedies of all time.

God I love this movie. When my dad would take us for the weekends we'd rent it from the gas station. People who get fantasy always enjoy it, not surprised you guys did 💜
Try Dragonslayer some time, I just saw that one recently and it's another banger 80s fantasy

For a little bit after this movie, my siblings kept saying "Willow, you idiot!" whenever one of us did something silly
