I strongly believe Linlin did eat her friends and mother... The fact she still behave to this day as a child could be a result of her blocking the memory of what she did. Think about how she makes everyone eat speaking things as well. The whole hunger pangs thing as well, as if she is trying to convince herself that what she did was outside of her control (when it was just tears that made her sight blurry). The whole thing looks like she's grasping at straw to keep that trauma buried.

I find it interesting that all of these big time pirates have someone manipulating or raising them in the background - Doflamingo had Trebol introduce him to getting revenge and now Big Mom is revealed to have had the cook Streusen taking care of her this whole time. About Big Mom, does she seem like a genius to you? No matter how strong, she is a simpleton with the brain of a slow child. Two problems with the plot in these episodes are that one, regardless if the missiles are destroyed, they are gas missiles. The gas would spread and get her whether they hit her directly or not. The poison should have been in the air. The other issue is that it doesn't make sense for Big Mom not to know what happened. She knows her Devil Fruit's name and its powers, and she knows the concept of Devil Fruits. It's only common logic that Carmel had the powers first and then she got them, hence, Mother is dead.

and basically when you eat a DF the essence or whatever goes from the fruit to the person who ate it so the person becomes the container of the df so when big mom ate caramel she ate the container this time being caramel as the container instead of a fruit. thats the basic theory and if the df user dies the container is gone so the essence goes to the nearest fruit (at this point its basically a debate if it goes into any fruit or it has to be a specific variety like if kaku dies the fruit essence has to go into a banana)

So I have a theory: Lin Lin, Big Mom, she's the product of an experiment, like what Caesar himself was trying to do with the kids back on Punk Hazard. Not sure if it was performed before her birth, like through drugs given to the mom before birth or through some surgical procedure like what Sanji's father did to him and his brothers, or if was done after birth through "nutritional supplements" like what Caesar himself did. Anyway, Like Caesar's experiments, the ones done on Big Mom had side effects when she didn't keep taking the drugs that changed her, and in her case it took the form of her "Hunger Pangs" as well as the reverse, namely the unrestrained eating that resulted in the disappearance of Mother Caramel and the children under her charge. Those side-effects were probably why the ones responsible didn't keep her under observation as her "batch" was deemed a failure: They wanted a method to make people giant with no drawbacks, and having someone go out of control and attack everything around them is one serious drawback. So yeah, Big Mom's backstory is tragic, and she's just as much a victim as those the attacked in her efforts to create her "perfect world".

I'm really not sure what really happened between Big Mom, Mother Carmel and the kids. It is heavily implied that Linlin ate Carmel and the kids but why is she really hungry right after again? And her body is too small to contain so many people – but this could be a case of anime logic. My theory since this episodes: Something happened here that involved effects of the Soul Soul fruit. And you can see a change in character on Linlin after she got the fruit and used it to create Zeus and Prometheus with parts of her own soul (so either this has something do with it or Streusen was such a bad influence). She doesn't care later about the hurting of creatures (outside of her rage mode the reason why she uses violence before) but attacks only because someone disturbed her eating of sweets.
