@MojoJoJo There's too much salt going around, I agree. A lot of it could be averted with simple ranked-choice voting because that would leave no ambiguity. Other than that, there should only be one person making a decision but since SMF isn't filthy rich she, unfortunately, doesn't have that luxury so "drama" will inevitably ensue.

@TemporalAnomaly Rurouni Kenshi and Samuari Champloo will more than likely be recommend. The one that usually open a person to a genre doesn't have to be the best one in the genre so Demon Slayer should be fine. (I haven't seen it so I don't know if good or bad but have heard good things about it.) All it matters if it can get the person into the genre. What can draw someone into a series could be anything. If we really going into Feudal/Historical Japan, the live action NHK JDrama(Taiga dramas) tv series, Akira Kurosawa's movies, 13 Assassins, etc are the better route seeing Feudal Japan than anime but you have to like live action Japanese first. I could recommend them but unless you are into live action Japanese stuff it means nothing.

There are so many super high-quality productions set in feudal Japan – a joke show like Demon Slayer really isn't among them. The best is probably the 4+2 piece Rurouni Kenshin OVA… Seirei no Moribito or Samurai Champloo would be less serious. Fantastic setting, though. Shigurui is insane (in all the good ways).

If SMF end up liking Demon Slayer, it might open up the Fedual Japan genre. House of Five Leaves, Samuari 7, Hakuouki, Shigurui, Bakumatsu Kikansetsu Irohanihoheto, Blade of Immortal, etc. Or the Japanese Supernatural/Mythology Genre. Mushishi, Mononoke, Natsume Yuujinchou, Ushio to Tora, etc. These might also open up different type of cosplay too.

The only more or less classic anime which isnt only like 1-3 years old is Code Geass so im going for that. But I guess demon slayer will win the poll and im not really interested in it. Demon Slayer is being voted out of pure seasonal hype, but its relevance won't last longer than that.  Violet Evergarden isn't that bad, but it has a lot of episodes that are a story by themselves and add really nothing to the overarching story. The 7 Deadly Sins is just another Shonen of the bunch, and follows a lot of their formulas. Konosuba is really funny but it's not for everyone, and I don't think you'll like it as much because it has really stupid humor and Ecchi that a girl like you is much less likely to enjoy. On the other hand, Code Geass is a linear story, very very well thought out and written. It has a weird art style but you get used to it. It has a lot of great emotional moments and I'm sure you will like it. Even after years of its release it has its place in the anime community. Anyone is welcome to put their opinion as well, these are my two cents. Good luck, Jamie.

Demon slayer is popular because it is the latest anime, and collecting survey points is easy. However, I don't think it will be in the top 10 anime rankings like Code Geass 10 years later. Black Clover Plz! It has mostly terrible animation, somewhat annoying voice acting, but the story and pacing is pretty good. You might like it! It’s a little quirky and unusual. Currently it’s at episode 101. If u are determined to choose between the five though, seven deadly sins is pretty short, so start there. I binged two seasons in three days basically.
