I think it's too soon for Gintama. She should watch some more anime before that to really get the Japanese culture more imo and of course, to get more references. This would enhance her Gintama experience. But yeah, Gintama is one of the best anime ever made.

Have you ever watched Gintama? It's a long one, but it's soo worth it. I don't usually recommend it until a person has a decent understanding of DBZ, Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece, because it references them a lot. It starts out primarily as a comedy, but it's top tier among shounen animes, and I say that as a shounen connoisseur.
