I like this arc too. Actually this arc is not as bad as others stated. There are many important info revealed in this arc which are crucial to future story going. And there are many epic scenes too. And for the same reason I love Skypiea and Thriller Bark too. Story-wise Skypiea outshine many arc as well. Marineford is good but it is just too stressful to watch, especially for Ace's death and Luffy's collapse. Too much weight I can't take it easily. And strawhats are totally missing in Marineford make me less enjoying. But just like you said, it is just my opinion. Not intend to enforce others to agree.

My brother had an interesting take. He was highly concerned by Zoro's declaration that he would be the new captain if Luffy wasn't capable of that much. He pointed out how Zoro's always been more loyal than that, and that his training may have given him a new view on power that could be troublesome to the crew later.

That panda you saw is an easter egg called Pandaman, who appears in almost every episode, movie, and manga chapter.

The panda person is Panda Man! Oda puts him in most chapters as an Easter egg for readers, and the anime includes him in a few episodes as well, though I’m not entirely sure on how frequent it is. If you read the manga, you can try to spot him in the chapters, like a Where’s Waldo of sorts.

There is a running gag in the series between Franky and the boyz (usually Usopp, Chopper, Luffy) vs. the girls (Robin & Nami). The boys are interested in cool robots/huge tech/weapons and macho brute strength, whereas the girls don’t find that stuff interesting at all. It’s a common trope in real life (girls love Magic Girl series like Sailor Moon, whereas boys don’t see the appeals. And then boys love mecha robot series like Gundam and beat em up fighting series like Fist of the North Star/Ippo and girls don’t see the appeal).

The thing with Conqueroro’s Haki is that it’s greatest use it to take out tons of fodder enemies with weak wills. You can’t take out everyone with it, only those whose wills can not overcome his disposition as a conqueror. So nah, Luffy won’t be able to just spam use the technique to defeat Hody.

Remember there were only 10,000 soldiers at Enies Lobby. So if current Luffy had gone to Enies Lobby back in the day he could have easily taken out everyone who wasn't at least CP9 or a giant the instant he set foot on that island.

When you say Luffy's gonna use Haki, I hope you know it's Conqueror's Haki. Haki also comes in 2 other (more common) forms - Observation and Armament Haki.

For Mecha/Giant Robots series for non fans or first time fans, the best one to start is Code Geass. Then after that it would be maybe Macross Frontier or Gundam Seed(not the best Gundam series but good for more casual audience).
