Most of the pirate names have to with history or locations. Jewley Bonney was named after Anne Bonny a famous female pirate. Captain Kidd was another famous pirate. Trafalgar Law's name is from a famous sea and the name of a square in London. You really see Oda's inspiration when you check into the names. Also leads to lots of theories about various pirates and the story. Some names have different pronunciations depending on dub or sub as well. Shaboady is pronounced differently between translations. Sometimes you have to go with what you like and some will cringe about it.

I really don't understand this. Japanese dub has the actual pronunciations and are literally the original ones. Why can't she get the pronunciations by listening to it? Sometimes it really feels like she mutes the audio and only reads the subtitles.

Watching the introduction of all these new Pirates in English would probably help you remember them. Its easier to catch the proper pronunciations.

Here are some things to clarify: -The English translation for Tenreyuubito is “Celestial Dragons” you can simply call them that. -If you want to remember the names easier, check out the Funimation dub. It might be easier for you if you here the names spoken in English with correct pronunciations. -When she said “Her people“, she meant the one mechanic. That was a translation error. -For the English pronunciation of the Archipelago, check out the Funimation dub. If you want to be a Japanese purist, the Japanese name for it is pronounced “Sha-bundy”

Just to clarify, those other pirates with high bounties are all captains of their own individual crews, only Killer works for Kid, the same way Zoro works for Luffy.
