Agreed. HxH does nen so well and establishes everything clearly. But One Piece's fights and power-ups have a different charm to them and they fit well with its general theme, I guess that's why loved these episodes lol

I binge watched alot of the OP movies/specials and saw how Luffy unlocked gear 2nd by accident. idk which one it is but it's really old. it's one of these 3: OP The Curse of The Sacred Sword OP Dead End OP Clockwork Island Adventure I hope eventually you get to watch them on your own time or do a reaction

Great reaction as always 🙏🏼 Episode 303 is a filler. I think its a funny filler but kills the pace of the arc a little bit. I would suggest to watch 301-305 (without filler) and 306-309. in the end its ur decision ☺️

luffy didn't "unlock" the gear 2nd like a dormant ability or something. Like he said (when you were talking when he was explaining it), he copied soru, the cp9's ability to move fast, to get a speed boost and that was where it came from. And way back on the sea train, Luffy said that he wanted to try some new ideas of tecniques. One Piece is not like Dragon Ball that shows their training and they transform from one time to another and the explanation is "yes he can do it". It always gives you some tips on the middle of some scenes, all you have to do is to pay attention. My theory of sanji's diable jambe was from his mentor/foster father zeff the RED LEG, that was like a devil for him.

In regards to Luffy and Gear Second... He becomes exhausted after using it (at least that's what he said after defeating Blueno), so he must be careful about using it lightly.

One of the criticism of this arc is that the character get these power ups out of no where is valid. (Oda does explain how the Gears of Luffy work better) It is more like its cool over how did they get that ability and when did they have the time to train to get it. (If the live action version ever get to this arc, they might be able to fix that part) It is a figure of speech when Sanji explain that food comes from god and spices come from devil when it comes to his diable jamble. Also Zoro is an atheist that names most of his attacks from eastern religion and eastern spiritual side. Zoro new power up Asura(9-sword illusion style) is based off of Indian mythology.
