I remember when I first saw this fight and I was happy because to me in the early part of the series usopp was a waste of a character and annoying to me and I really didn’t see his part. But luckily my views of him changed later in the series

Man, no matter how many times I watch this, I still cry. This is the type of stuff that makes One Piece legendary. And yeah, they usually refer to Merry as "she", I think the translation you were watching was just being weird about it since they also used "she" a couple of times.

Of course it was selfish, everyone knows that. He's flawed, just like anyone else. Expecting everyone to be perfect and never be selfish isn't just unrealistic, but boring as well. Even Usopp knew deep down that he was being selfish, but it's not something that he can just let go of so easily. Don't be so quick to judge.

Usopp was always the hype man of the crew. There was never a boring Strawhat party without Usopp's tall tales of adventure to get the crowd revved up. Bonfire dancing, long drunken stories. Usopp was a man of the people.

this isn't sad to me, this fight always pissed me off, because usopp to me anyway in my opinion is being selfish, this is hard for everyone and Luffy as the captain had to make a hard decision. Usopp does not respect Luffy as a captain, this shows he's not, they were friends sure, nakama, but usopp doing this...yes he's angry, yes he's upset, yes he's in denial but their all upset, this is why I say he's selfish, cause they are all hurting Luffy didn't make this decision easy. It ticks me off cause Luffy didn't want to do this, and he's right if Usopp doesn't want to follow his lead as captain then he does need to pack up and go! If you like usopp love him or hate him, this was all the negative aspects of usopp coming out in one go
