Not redundant if she enjoys it. Just like how people tell her to skip filler, she reacts to those and enjoys them, and I'm sure she'll say it was worth her time. Yes, there are other anime out there people want her to watch, but one 50 episode anime isn't gonna make that much difference in the end, when there's literally dozens (if not hundreds) of anime people would want her to react to. If she reacts to both, than that's just another anime she will enjoy. It's not like the series is bad, so if it's something she'll likely enjoy, then why not watch it? If it was hundreds of episodes I could understand, but a 50 episode anime isn't gonna do any harm in the grand scheme of things. After brotherhood, she's probably gonna want more FMA anyway, and if you were to watch both, it's best to watch the 2003 anime first since brotherhood rushes through the first bit, and she'll appreciate the ending of brotherhood more. Aside from saving time (which I don't think she'll care about too much, considering she watches fillers), there isn't really any good reason not to watch it.

Is it worth watching before the superior and canon version? Absolutely not. Gotta take into account that many people want her to react to other anime so might as well stick to Brotherhood. It's redundant otherwise.

It may not fully follow the manga, but for an anime that was pretty much forced to veer off the manga, they did a reasonably good job. Why can't she watch both? I'm sure she will enjoy both, like a lot of others did.

If she does brotherhood next, she will likely move onto another anime after that, so why not watch both to make it last longer? And what do you mean, not really worth it anymore? Yes, I know most fans like brotherhood more (and I am one of them), but there are still a lot of people who love the 2003 anime, and it's still worth the watch (especially considering the fact brotherhood kinda rushes through the parts the 2003 anime adapted).
