I love how I can watch your reactions in two different ways when it comes to One piece and Fairy tail. One piece I'm living the moment along with you. But with Fairy tail, as I already saw the whole thing I'm expecting your reactions even more.

As far as I can tell, this is a Japanese trope coming from the idea that unclean things like unwashed futons grow mushrooms. I've also seen it when characters are in a dark, moody place emotionally, which are conditions suitable to grow mushrooms on your head I guess, heh.
