I'd have thought this would be clear by now but the series really is about him building his nation. It is the primary point of the series.

2022-05-23 05:26:50 +0000 UTCThe anime does a really poor job of explaining Yohm and his group. They are a group of convicts sent in by a noble of Falmuth because they were expendable and the guy with glasses was sent as their handler but betrays Falmuth for them.

It has the same world building and relationship building with other countries but the hype is much better. Cant wait for the Slime movie to come out next year too!!

2021-10-17 03:23:08 +0000 UTCThe end of season 1 feels repetitive because it's a setup for future episodes. Think of it as a Slice of Life with occasional fighting. I think you're rushing for there to be conflict and big twists and turns a bit too quick. The show is much better when binge-watched. Don't forget you're not even halfway through the anime, and the anime has barely covered 1/4 of the source material so far. Think of it as a prologue. The main thing to remember is that this series' main theme is nation building, not fighting.

Conflict definitely picks up a lot in season 2 but it definitely is a slow burn in. I personally think its worth though season 2 was hella hype imo. But I also like world building in animes its a great way to get me invested in the world and care about what is going on.

I 100% understand how you feel about it, especially if you have seen other isekai before. You just kind of want something a bit more new especially in the conflict department, it also doesn't help that you've seen overlord prior to this. Slime is fun for what it is but if you do decide to drop it you aren't missing out on anything revolutionary in regard to anime for sure

2021-10-15 21:49:24 +0000 UTCHonestly, I'm a big fan of slime. The last bit of Season 1 is definitely a bit of a drag in terms of pacing. It's a lot more slow paced, feel good stuff that you expect more from a slice of life anime. But Season 2 has some of the best hype. I enjoyed Season 2 of Slime, more than any single season of Overlord. Honestly, I feel like you'd have more enjoyment just watching it on your own or if you just binged it.

Conflict is part of it but a lot of it is developing new things, recruiting new people, macro and micromanaging Tempest, playing politics etc. Flashy battles and threats will come along but it will never be the focus of Slime.

2021-10-15 18:24:19 +0000 UTCSo I'm glad that you're still proceeding with this series, and yes the season thus far has been heavily focused on world building and relationship building, but it's been in an entertaining way, right? They even threw in the occasional conflict of escalating difficulty so as to ensure that it doesn't get too entrenched in that genre and to make things exciting. The way that I found helps is to focus on the videogame aspects of this series and to think of this season as the opening levels of a game, the "tutorial levels" in other words. As you're probably aware, having played games yourself, the opening levels of many games but especially RPGs serve to introduce players to the world and the characters in it at a low to moderate difficulty setting, thus letting them get a feel for what they can do and what their limitations are, letting them get comfortable with it and invested for the long haul. So too is it here. With Charybdis on its way and 6 episodes remaining in the season I wouldn't be expecting any other major conflicts taking place this season. Having said that, after you wrap up this season and watch the OAD episodes (episodes 3-5 at least) you should look forward to both parts of Season 2..Being a bit of a gamer yourself I think you're aware of what happens when the game is done with holding your hand, so I hope you're ready.
