2021-01-29 07:22:04 +0000 UTCIt's tricky with filler arcs, I'd assume they can't/don't want to do anything that would go against the cannon storyline so there can't be any real character development, Gildarts is a character that comes and goes, but because he didn't leave at the end of the last arc he could still be used unlike Laxus who did leave or the Six haven't been seen in awhile and probably won't be used again anytime soon so having them in this arc is fine.

2021-01-29 05:49:31 +0000 UTCIMO the scenes that have both doranbolt/mest and lahar are one of the few moments that is worth watching or rewatching in this arc. Seeing some character development between these two people is nice to have, albeit focusing more on Mest/Doranbolt.
