It seems like this whole white-background with black and white film look is growing into a larger project. I want to gain some deeper understanding of different films, developer and processes, so I am experimenting with a few different setups. Here's the one I used for this one:
Lighting
one large diffuser from the left (the rest are just for show)
Camera
Nikon EM - this is a semi-automatic camera with a built in "flash" mode - this makes it perfect for using it in the studio
Film
Ilford FP4 125 (pushed to 400)
Development
Ilford ID-11 (stock) - 20C
I developed the film roughly 20% longer because of the two steps of push.
I also increased development time by 20% because I already used the developer 2 times (AFAIK this is standard procedure). These are the times I ended up with:
Development: 14min 24sec
Stop bath: 1min
Fixing: 5min
Final wash: 10min 30sec
As a final rinse I used a cup of water with a single pump of liquid dishwasher, because I couldn't be bothered to buy anti-stain chemicals.
Scanning
I scanned the negative with an old slide-copier and a Canon 6D
Post-processing
I inverted the negatives in Lightroom manually without any plugins and did a light adjustment for the levels, but that's pretty much it - I like to keep it as close to the original as possible with these film shots.
