Borne of Flames (Fanart/Zine submission)

Been busy lately so not too much stuff uploaded right away, but since the deadline for this passed and the group is just waiting for last minute submissions, I figured I'd post this here!

I'm participating in the 'Book of Dragons' YGO zine, a collection of dragon-centric YGO card art by fans. I chose/was given the god card 'Winged Dragon of Ra'

I'd never drawn this dragon before, so it was a challenge to figure out how he worked! I went with a newer card design that was more bird-like rather than the one that's showed up in the anime because I liked how it looked.

Also chose a different method of painting this, I had initially just slapped rough colors under the sketch to get a feel of how I wanted it to look, but dreaded doing lineart (specially since I have a wip commission that has complex lineart) so I squished all the layers together and just tried painting it.

A whole lot of bullshitting and glow layers went into this but I think it turned out surprisingly well >w<

I'm only sharing the smaller png file for now, because the zine is supposed to have the official large version for printing. I do retain all rights to this artwork though, so I'll probably have it as a print eventually. I haven't posted this anywhere else yet either while I wait for the zine to be printed and stuff, so you guys get to see it first!

The zine will be up for physical and digital sale (as far as I know) and I'll be getting a few copies for myself. I'll be sure to link the zine here if anyone would be interested in it!
