S2E1 is my favourite episode of tv like ever. It's just so good!

It’s kind of funny that Marten is *SO* crass and disgusting, even for an American. As a fairly vulgar American myself, he makes me cringe out of my skin. I expect a writer like Waller-Bridge who is so clever and so artful at vulgarity experiences tiresome men who think rudeness is cruise control for humor especially galling.

no i’m english and i can definitely confirm, politeness is so engrained in our culture that nobody says anything straight up. everything just bubbles below the surface and it makes us passive aggressive because we don’t address it

Ugh, I can't wait till you start season two...in particular episode one. You're gonna love the dynamic the hot priest brings to this train wreck of a family. 😄 Can't wait for Wednesdays finale!

BTW, almost no one’s name in this show is revealed — by design. We only know Claire, Martin, Boo, and minor characters like Hillary. The rest are either family (father, evil godmother, mother), or go by nicknames (Fleabag, the teeth-guy, the arsehole-guy, creepy stepson).

I don’t want to generalise, but the scene at the end where everybody’s pretending that nothing happened feels very real. I’m a foreigner who’s lived in England for a decade. Love English people, who’re generally kind, smart, considerate, etc, but passive-aggressiveness is pervasive.
