I think his parents are reading the lyrics but for the audience they have Luke singing so that we can hear the song. I don’t think his parents are actually hearing him, in fact I think it becomes less sweet and more creepy if they are. They are just reading his words.

I feel like a sadist saying this but I'm so happy to see you cry about this too because it makes me feel understood. 2025-01-26 18:39:45 +0000 UTCSo the official reason for the cancellation was the pandemic and since they needed crowds for this show it was one of the shows we lost. The show won several awards and the music charted as well. Now there could have been other reasons for the cancellation also

It feels very much like those shows which had an age demographic BUT they also made it so that it wouldn't be a chore to watch for someone outside that demographic~ Like a babysitter or parent wouldn't hate it being on the the background AND it would give them some groundwork for certain conversations~~~^.^

2025-01-26 17:45:21 +0000 UTCI’m an elder millennial and grew up watching shows like Boy Meets World which was goofy but also had plots about family loss, abuse, sexual harassment, cults, etc. and I think maybe that’s why I liked this show so much. Kids shows these days don’t really tackle the serious issues the way they did when I was younger, so even though I obviously didn’t watch this show growing up, it feels nostalgic because it reminds me of the ones I did watch. Didn’t really put that together until your conversation about this show’s weird demographic.
