I’m in Canada, and mine has another scene after this when they are already married. Very romantic ending. Also, the first Bridget Jones diary is based on pride and prejudice as well :)

He has absolutely no intention of marrying her until they are discovered and forced to marry by Darcy. He literally didn't give a shit about her or the fact that he was ruining the family by living with her out of wedlock - they never actually say if they have sex but it would be assumed by everyone that she was no longer a "maiden". Man just wanted to get his dick wet while he figured out his next move before he inevitably ditched her.
