Current plan is to release the next update after the weekend. It's been a tough month. First I caught corona, then I was in the hospital because of pain in my belly. Roughly 2 weeks were lost because of illness/doctor appointments. I'm happy that despite everything we can stick to the roughly one-month release schedule.
We had two big goals for the upcoming update:
1. Make the game more "game'ish" by focusing on exploration
2. Improve the overall impression/production value of the game
To achieve the first goal we recreated the whole city. There are more NPCs now and sometimes it triggers nasty stuff if you interact with them. Usually, each of these events has only 1 scene now, but they are designed in a way that we can add more in upcoming updates. In the future, we want to add one big quest per update (as usual) and 1-3 new scenes for the "open world".
To achieve the second goal we used a completely new texture pack (="Tileset") for the game. The game won't look like the standard RPG-Maker-Game anymore! The new city was created completely with this new texture pack. Some old places like the Inn, Blacksmith, and Inquisition-Castle were reworked too. If we have some time left we may rework maps of the starting experience (Tower, Castle Garden, Orgy-Hall) too.
The screenshots are still not final. I may add some extra photoshop-layers to the maps to add some more details :-)
