Imperfect cards

The last releases contained a few rather sloppy cards: sometimes the translations are not accurate, sometimes the back is missing, sometimes there are multiple translations on the back. Why is this the case?

Mostly because I stopped doing an additional review cycle before releasing a deck to save some time. Creating a card with the current workflow (checking videos, filtering interesting words, then finding 2–3 sample sentences for each) takes on average ~5 min. That's ~70–80 hours per deck, and instead of extending this, I wanted to spend the time creating more new cards instead. However, I'll try to be a bit more thorough in the future—thanks for your understanding!

For all the existing cards, I’m planning a major update, which will also change the underlying note format significantly. I'm also planning to revise the translations when doing this. For future cards (still my current focus), I'll try to be a bit more accurate. Note, however, that I can't fully avoid all mistakes: I do not have spell checking in my tools yet and sometimes, well, I want to make some progress ;).

A related remark on the AI tooling I added: This does speed up things, but I am also using it to create more accurate translations by using better context. So in the end, the time spent per card is the same. In the meantime by the way, I created ~200 new ones. A few more and intermediate 3 is finished...

Comments

I am not sure it would be useful, but you might even want to release a "beta" version of updates on patron first.

Perfection is nice, but it is more important to complete more cards in my opinion. Don't worry about perfection.
