Get it while you can. This post includes an epub and a pdf ahead of the November 11 release. Please don't share this. And if you do download it, please consider leaving an honest review on release day on Amazon as that will be very helpful to the DCC cause.
This is NOT the final final version, but it is significantly closer than what was before, and it IS the final version to be sent out on Patreon. It is minus many thousand words and minus over 1,000 typos/grammar issues, etc. and plus quite a bit of little lines here and there. That said, there are still multiple typos in here that I haven't gotten to from my editors' list. Please feel free to call any out in the comments in case they've been missed. Especially if you see anything really obnoxious.
The recap opening is new and hasn't yet been posted on Patreon (I will make a public post of it soon). Also, I wrote a short afterward about Freddie the dog.
So, what's next?
I have already started working on book 8, Working title Carl's Book of Boom and I will start updating that on here soon.
I am also attempting to finish Operation: Bounce House ASAP for ACE. I wish I was allowed to share that novel with you guys, but I am not allowed. 2024-12-16 05:50:18 +0000 UTCI quite enjoyed Book 7. Feedback: One thing I missed was the interaction between Carl and Donut. Donut has always felt like the heart of the book, and splitting her away from Carl made me long for their dynamic. Carl makes for a great straight man, and during their separation, I found myself wishing more characters had shown idiosyncratic tendencies to play off Carl’s humor and personality. A whole book of Carl being the straight man to Donut’s war-torn sniper was heartbreaking. It would have meant a lot to see those two take a quiet moment together to collect themselves after everything they’ve endured. You nailed this beautifully with the Milk and Carl scene, which was one of the most touching moments in the book. I think Donut deserved something similar. Katia’s send-off was tender and well-earned. Her arc, culminating in something genuinely good happening after everything she’s been through, was a 10/10 payoff. Please don’t take that away from us—it felt like a gift for the readers. On a personal note, I find myself rooting wholeheartedly for Carl and Donut. I want them to succeed in breaking everyone out of this nightmare. I hope the series avoids a moment akin to The Stand, where half the protagonists are wiped out. With every passing book, the fear grows that this group of friends will face a devastating loss at the hands of forces beyond their control. I’m rooting for them to defy the odds and win. I would also like you to give us the opportunity to learn more about the other characters. The updates from everyone who contributed to the Anarchist’s Cookbook were among the finest moments in the series. More perspectives like those—especially from characters like Imani, Chris, Pony, or even the sponsors—would be wonderful. Opening up the narrative beyond Carl’s POV, as you’ve done occasionally, adds so much depth to the story. It makes everything Carl and Donut are doing here feel more meaningful, particularly in the context of the larger history of Dungeon Crawler World and the past crawlers’ struggles. I look forward to where you take us next.

Once someone mentioned that his fists were glowing and another time he “punched his way through” but I must have missed the effects of that particular boone.

The A.I said this on page 538 when Yarilo was close. Oh shit, we hadn’t fixed that one. Uh, that’s not exactly fair for either of you. A bit anticlimactic. Let me fix it real fast. . That implies that donut was in range and was wearing the kneepads. Her choices should have been dick falls off and pied piper also in that case.

For example, when we first meet Team Sister Ines, the paid version mentions Paz’s suicide bomber ability, while epub version does not. That makes Paz’s final act less of a “deux ex machina”

The epub uses "¾’s" in six places, but the fraction isn't a possessive or a contraction and the only way to pronounce it is with an s already. It should be either three-quarters, three-fourths or just ¾ without the 's. Ch7: "We were in the campus of the college, which took up about a quarter of a ring about ¾’s up the funnel of Larracos." Ch15: "It wasn’t listed as a boss at all, which was strange since the last one, which had been about ¾’s the size of this one, had been a borough boss." Ch56: "She sat regally upon Mongo while Rend, now about ¾’s the size of his former self..." Ch71: “I rushed forward through the air, making it about ¾’s of the way before I dropped like a bucket of concrete, plummeting..." Ch75: "It’s stuck about ¾’s of the way down!" Ch82: "She had a health bar over her that was about ¾’s full." Opportunity is misspelled: Ch87: “Kimaris!” Samantha asked, zipping away from Louis, who took the oppotunity to also dive into the stairwell. I think this sentence is missing the word "like" after sounds: Ch42: "From what it sounds, it’s actually more dangerous up there right now." Some inconsistencies: D’Nadia is spelled with a capital N, D’Nadia, in some places and a lowercase n, D’nadia, in others. Demigod is hyphenated as demi-god in a couple places and unhyphenated elsewhere. The spell "Bijanbi" is spelled "Binjabi" in one place (not sure which is correct, but both are used). You mostly hyphenate off-worlder, but in Ch 67 you use offworlders without a hyphen. You don't hyphenate outworlder ever, so perhaps that's what you intended. Saccathian is usually capitalized, but in a few locations it's not. "Semeru" (dwaves) is spelled "Semuru" in Ch 35. Some places use "fairy tale" and other places use "fairytale." The gnomish "farseer" is spelled instead "farseerer" in one place (not sure which is correct, but both are used).

Having said that, I feel in book 7 there is so much stuff going on that I wish the next book involed little less of cast otherwise I will start to keep notebook to stay all caught up ;)

I use the Barnes & Nobles Nook app to read epub files. Never tried the Kindle app on my phone for epub files because of my previous experience with Kindle E-readers. So I don't think it's you doing that incorrectly 😆

We all know what you mean but it's kinda difficult to look at something that isn't there. Wonderful, amazing book. Either way, I imagine each crawler has at least 1 interesting item they're not using. (For example, IIRC, Carl once got a flail/hammer and gifted it to the Bogdanov brothers.)

If nothing else, it puts you in a pretty weak bargaining position if your options are “take whatever deal we offer you or start floor 10 without any/your best gear”

Mother of god sure, just not the Mary part. I got that it was rephrased, I just didn't know that particular expression, so I couldn't figure it out without googling. 2024-11-03 07:51:19 +0000 UTCEditing note (style): there are a few mentions of tier three upgrades, but the style between them is inconsistent* and some of the time is spelled, "tier III," which I suspect assistive readers will pronounce as, "tier eye eye eye." *Book 7 uses "tier-three" and "tier III", book 6 used "tier-3", "tier 3", and "tier-three". IMHO it should be "tier three", but use "tier-three" to match past style and mirror "nine-tier attack"

At first I put that the sum total of your gear's value increased the quality of your deal, but I thought that would have been well known and changed a lot of the dynamics throughout the entire series. So instead, I was initially planning on having Carl find there was a ton of left gear in the beginning of the next book, but then I thought that would be *too* much. So I compromised and added this line to the Milk conversation: “Oh, and they may have unloaded some of their gear. It’s waiting in your guild for distribution. I told them not to give it all up because some of the deals they may take will require them to use their old equipment.”

But why don't they also take off and pile up all their gear and spellbooks etc for the remaining crawlers? (And I'm pretty sure the ex-crawlers acquired some goodies during their time on the 9th floor, too.) I'd imagine any crawler who's managed to survive this long would have some interesting gear by now - there's gotta be at least 100 cool things, rings, etc Carl and Donut could use to upgrade their own loadout. Right now, it sounds like all those crawlers are deliberately making the choice not to share their gear with anybody at all, which is weird. 🙃

I'm only on chapter 4 so far in my re-read. The only differences I've noticed so far is that the prologue is now Carl getting the Residual's upgrade, and Donut's reference to what card she picked in chapter 1 was cut.

I liked the thought that Uzi jesus was so shocked he broke the blasphemy clause, possibly affected by the goddess. Also honestly, I just don't get it, what the new phrase means...and even if I did it's a bit of a mouthful.
