Herbalism 101 - Damiana + 3-Ingredient Love Tea Spell

Good morning moon babes! I hope you're staying warm and safe! It has been raining here pretty heavily so I am trying to keep cozy. I wanted to continue the Herbalism 101 series and since Valentine's Day is coming soon I figured I should talk about Damiana. I just adore damiana so much!

This Herbalism 101 series is all about learning about different herbs and their spiritual properties. In the past, I talked about Mugwort, Lavender, Lemongrass, and Clove. Each herb is unique and can be used in so many ways and workings. I like trying to get closer with each spirit of herbs, spending time with each one individually and creating one-ingredient spells that can connect me further with that herb! Damiana can spiritually be used as an aphrodisiac, increase libido, love workings, sexual vitality, bedroom magick, happiness, feminine energy, creativity, stimulation, uplifting, relaxing, stress relief, provocative, and enticing, rebirth, attraction, fertility, and depression. Damiana is a versatile herb that can be used in many different ways. Depending on the use, you can utilize the leaf and/or stem. I have a TikTok video on Damiana if you want to check that out. Damiana is associated with the planet Mars and is a Fire sign.

Also known as Turnera diffusa, Damiana is a small woody, wild shrub that you can find in Mexico, Central America, South America, as well as the Caribbean/West Indies. It has aromatic flowers that can sometimes be compared in scent to chamomile.

It has been used for centuries in medicines, as an ingredient in a traditional Mexican liqueur, and was even included in Pemberton's French Wine Coca, which was a coca wine created by the druggist John Pemberton, who was the inventor of Coca-Cola. Pemberton's French Wine Coca was an alcoholic beverage that had coca, kola nut, and of course damiana.

Three-Ingredient Love Tea with Damiana Spell

* If you have never ingested this before please consult your doctor. Please make sure you are using culinary grade damiana! *

What You'll Need

Prior to starting this working, make sure to wash your hands with Holy Water.

- Cup / Mug

- Damiana 

- Sweetener of choice (honey, sugar, whatever you like)

- Strainer

- Teapot, kettle, or microwave

- Cinnamon stick or powder

What to Do:

Cleanse yourself and your space.

Take your damiana, and activate it for love, lust, aphrodisiac, or vitality. You can pick the intention! Boil the water, while it is heating up pray with the water and herb that it brings you your specific intention.

Add the damiana to your cup with water. Allow the tea to steep for 3 minutes before removing the herb.

After it's done steeping, put your activated cinnamon stick in the cup with your damiana tea. You can activate the cinnamon for added luck, love, to speed up the working, or abundance specifically for love or attraction.

Leave the cinnamon stick in the cup and now add the sweetener of choice. The sweetener will also sweeten the spell and the perception of you / what you want to be perceived as.

Spend time praying, enchanting, and pouring energy into the tea. Sip and enjoy!

Witch's Notes

If you would like to save your damiana to use in a bath, face wash, or floor/altar wash, set it aside and use it within 4 hours. Disgard in a compost pile or outside, as always make sure all ingredients you used are biodegradable before doing so.

If you're planning on doing this as a love working, make another cup for your partner (consensually of course), likewise, you can share it with your ancestors.
